people need to seriously stop writing posts/majority of posts in other languages.

This is an english forum. Not all of us speak spanish, etc...

I remember Flowers saying this to someone before, that you should post in english, so unless you write the same thing in english too, It'd be nice if everyone just posted in the language this forum is in. :|

I don't mean to be an asshole or anything, but it's annoying.
I'm not putting down any other languages, I'm just saying, this is an english forum.

Je n'en suis pas si sûr. Certaines personnes ne savent même pas écrire correctement leur propre langue, alors tenter d'écrire en anglais aboutit souvent à un désastre.

Then they're probably in the wrong place anyway, don't you think?

Really though, I've noticed what Amatsu's talking about and I don't think it rises to the level of a problem if people want to exchange a few greetings. But his understanding of our general policy is correct, and if we start seeing long substantive discussions in other languages, that's a problem.

I personally find it annoying when people post Japanese text (not when posting lyrics and stuff, I mean like randomly). I can't read Japanese at all. I think it's the same as people posting in Spanish.

::meev:: sorry, I was attempting to get back at Halvorc. it didn't really matter what it meant in this case.

Ooh, I don't mean on that particular situation XD I gathered that, but I mean like at other times.

Okay, seriously? I don't see any need for you to randomly pop into threads and start telling people to STFU. ::cop::

I'm not randomly popping in, I've been watching you guys argue for a while.
And I'm not telling anyone in particular, I'm just saying it in general. Seriously, I hate clicking on a topic and having to read through three pages of arguing before I even know what the hell's going on. Why do so many people around here have to be so argumentative? Why can't everyone be entitled to their own opinion?
And back on topic, If you post something in another language, just post a translation with it. Simple.

Oi, the only two people on the forum who are licensed to ask people to shut up are myself and Flowers. ::cop:: This is the second time I've seen a comment like this from you and it is not necessary.

As for the topic on hand--I don't think it happens often enough that it's a problem, but do try to keep everything in English. I think it's important not to exclude anyone. :)
But on that note I also realize that a few members struggle with English--so of course anyone who speaks their native language should help them out if they need something translated or whatnot. Just try not to go into chit-chat mode or exchange info that hasn't been posted in English for everyone else. But again, I haven't seen this be a problem. :)

I refuse to say anything on the grounds that I have no comeback.

I only speak English and have never run into any problem with other languages used before. I have seen random greetings, phrases and what not used but it has never bothered me before.

What about signatures? Shouldn't they be in english too? It's annoying(especially for moderators) when someone writes something in an unknown language in their signature. For example, I can write really offensive stuff in Dutch in my signature and only a very few users here would understand it. It would also be a lot easier for moderators to see when someone has an improper signature.

Maybe add a rule that someone should always provide a translation? Because it is understandable that some members want to put quotes from their favourite bands in their signatures(and those are probably in Japanese).

I agree that it's pretty annoying when, in the middle of a topic, some people start a conversation in another language than english and we can't understand anything. But I didn't see that much of it in this forum, maybe it's because I'm a bit newbie, I don't know...

And for the signatures, well.. I doubt someone would want to write something offensive in his or her signature Oo

I think having to add a translation would be a big case of over-moderating. Let's face it, we're not all from the same countries, so it's pretty natural to have a few words in other languages. As long as there aren't pages and pages of other language conversations being had, I see no problem.
