Page Stretching

There's something that's annoying me about visiting scape recently. The rule about stretching out the page with images isn't enforced strictly.

I don't want to scroll over to read a post, than scroll back over to read the next line, and over to read the end, and back to read another post, etc. D: It's a hassle

People often stretch out pages with long links too, which I think should be against the rules.

I just think this rule should be enforced completely, a page shouldn't be stretched out even only a few pixels. :(

This is just a suggestion. ::kisaki::

(this post sounds so complain-y... sorry, I dunno how to write it another way. :/ )

I agree that it's annoying, but I don't think it needs any particular attention. It's not that big of a deal.

It happens extremely often... and I don't really request any special attention, just a little more attention than it is getting now

@Halvorc: ::cop:: ::cop:: actually, an image you posted that stretched the page inspired me to start this thread. ::meev::
But seriously, I'm not blaming you or singling you out, i'm sure almost everyone has done it, I've done it. I just wish it would be dealt with more often. ::meev::

I don't mind seeing big pictures that stretch the page. They're far more interesting than avatars and stupid images in signatures that no one cares about. Recently, I decided to Ad-block every avatar and picture in signatures. I may do so if there's a really annoying picture that stretches the page, but I'm OK about them, in general.

I have an idea for how to fix this. I'll play around with it and see what happens.

EDIT: no good. Anyway you can always bring it to my attention if there's a picture that needs to be edited into a link.

Just an idea, maybe it is possible to program a sort-of "protection system". Everytime when someone posts an image that makes the page stretched, then it will be automatically changed into a link or a smaller image. This smaller image is a link to the image in its original size.

Quite a lot of forums solve this "stretching problem" with this, but I have no idea how they add it to the forum.

I tried something like that for avatars once and it didn't work, for reasons outside my control. The server this forum is running on can't seem to load files remotely via PHP, so it can't examine images posted by users automatically. I was trying to find a CSS solution to this but had no luck.

You'll never fix things if you don't complain to people who can fix things.

Amatsu, which threads are you talking about in particular? I haven't noticed it happening in the random thread, so the only place I can think of it possibly happening is in the MM picture thread. If that's the case....just don't go there. :| I hardly ever visit that thread myself anymore because I found the picture upon picture annoying. ::meev::

^ Which reminds me of a question I've had for a while.
How do you code links so that they show up as a title rather than a long web adress?

Like: Click here
Instead of: ww.blahblahblahblah.whatever

Thanks. :)
