All I want for Christmas is for Elon Musk to step down and appoint Donald Trump as the new CEO of Twitter, I think that has the potential to completely break people and set them to tearing out their hair in the streets. Would be a good laugh.

Whoever finally manages to crash Twitter into bankruptcy will win my Man Of The Year award for the next decade or two.
I'm also holding out hope that one president or another will actually get around to banning TikTok.

What we really need is for someone to go back in time and prevent the creation of Tumblr.

Who says it has to be a man? Don't be racist against women. I am literally shaking right now.

You have to go back way further than that. From what I understand, the toxic elements on Tumblr trace back to Livejournal and then from there to the US west-coast sci-fi fandom, or something along those lines. And that goes back decades.
They document everything they've ever said in excruciating detail: https://fanlore.org/wiki/Category:Meta_Essays
But I'm not going to be the one who untangles that Gordian knot, no sir.

I am literally shaking right now.
Hah, like a giiiirrrrrllllll.

I think you could make a strong case for Tumblr being the ground zero for all the nonsense seeping out of fringe communities and going mainstream.

I am once again being an old man shouting at clouds, but do big companies not make small TVs anymore?

I went for a walk through a home appliances store recently and it struck me just how big TVs are these days.
My current TV, which is a 32" or so Sony from about 10 years ago that I picked up second hand feels big enough as it is.
I've never liked the way that TVs have come to dominate rooms, especially the way that everything in the room has to be oriented towards the TV, which is even worse in homes with 'open-plan' architecture.
Anyway, out of curiosity I decided to see what my options are as far as downsizing, and a brief stroll through a home appliance store along with a quick internet search, the only things I could turn up were second hand models from a few years ago.

They sell a fair number of 32" TVs in FNAC (I confirmed they're not just monitors).

I've decided my new years resolution is to have the female equivalent of Kenji Darvesh's body for a week.
After that it's way too much effort so I'll go back to being dumpy and covered in cat hair.

TVs have never been big enough before our current golden age of technology. We were just more willing to sit right up with our faces practically plastered to the screen back in Jurassic times.
I have a 60" TV and it's about the right size for comfortable sitting and viewing.

That said, I think you can still get small TVs but they're mostly novelty items in the dollar bin at Walmart. I'll have a look next time I go.

A lot of Japanese people seem to have these little TVs, about the size of a 24" PC monitor, that they use while they're in the kitchen or for their bedside, but I never see them for sale outside of second hand shops.

Then again, I've also noticed that most younger people don't even own a TV and just watch everything on their smartphone.

I was watching some amazing old Tetsu era lives tonight and feeling very nostalgic. The future sucks. I'm trying to figure out how to formulate my new year's resolution around rejecting the current culture and keeping to the things I love.

I didn't realize it was after midnight. Happy new year, guys.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ::foot::

I'm trying to figure out how to formulate my new year's resolution around rejecting the current culture and keeping to the things I love.
Is it going to involve assembling a troupe of thespians to perform disfavored Victorian musicals and Restoration dramas at local VA halls and insane asylums?
Oh wait, that's my resolution ::meev::

Do rockstars still sign boobs? I feel like that was a big thing in the past.
No, now you just buy $200 worth of their clothing line and get to attend a handshake event ::mana::

Mana gave me a hug, I would have much preferred it had been a handshake.
I thought they did institute a handshake option, for just the kind of people who don't like getting hugged by Atari Jaguar owners.
