Nah, this has been going on forever, since before the plague and the strikes and all that. I actually knew them as "Those overpriced computer guys" before I ever knew they rented gear XD I've never actually bought anything from them so I don't know where it'd ship from if I did. I'm almost curious.
that's kinda wild tho because I would have never thought. XD I guess cause I only interacted with them in that one specific avenue. ::erm::

In other news, saw this today on 23rd St: "The Trojans"
https://www.tickettailor.com/events/thecelltheatre/1498953
A sort of 80s synthwave retelling of "The Iliad" by Amazon warehouse workers using their boxes and ladders and stuff. It was a lot of fun, I'd recommend it.
The kids in the audience seemed bored though, presumably because they had no particular attachment to either the 80s or Homer ::meev::
That's so oddly specific??? xD Also with a depressing modern capitalist setting oof. But I can see how it may only be a hit with a very specific niche audience loll

Australia updated the design of their passports a couple of years ago, and whatever new paper they've elected to use for the cover warps and curls for no apparent reason. It's rather annoying, especially when you're trying to scan the curly thing.

Here's a photo I found on the internet that demonstrates the problem.

"THIS PASSPORT IS A VALUABLE DOCUMENT" is the icing on the cake XD

I just found out I might be eligible for a euroland passport under some obscure laws about who in my family tree was married to who when in The Olden Times. I wonder if I should look into it, even though it'd make me feel utterly venal and petty.

Seen today while shopping: a record formerly owned by the world's angriest DJ ::meev::

1743890641751.png1743890738551.png

"BORING, ROTTEN"
"WASTE VALUABLE TIME"
"MUST SKIP"

I haven't heard this record myself so I can't confirm or disconfirm this, but he didn't need to gouge his complaints right into the cover

HMU if you want to collab on some Legacy of the Wizard streaming, that's got to be pretty much a license to print money ::batsu::

You're joking but I'd fucking do it and I'd be god awful at it ::cred::

I "joked" to my father just now that I should just drop a grand for the complete setup and see how I can do since I can't get any other work and he said I should just invest in an elmo costume and go to times square instead. ::blowup::

Boomer needs to get with the times, on the internet Times Square comes to YOU ;)

Why that much even? All you need is some sort of computer that'll play some old-timey games, internet, a microphone, and maybe a camera.
... Don't tell me you're getting rigged as a vtuber ::gaku::

You know, I did actually try streaming some Legacy of the Wizard one time to see if Twitch would be a good "screenshare" app with friends. At least back then on my garbage connection my gameplay was about 20 seconds out of sync with reality.

Ahahaha no no my only computer is a 10 year old mac book pro so out of date that half the internet doesn't even work on it anymore so I'd literally have to buy a whole ass desktop pc along with everything else. ::meev::

He was so rude?!! I'm wondering I could leverage that tho-- "Father says I should just become a pervy TS elmo. 200 subs and I go live in times square and ask elmo how much they made in a week ::cam::"

I know there's generally some sort of broadcast delay but do you mean with capture card and actual gameplay or something? Btw I only know half of what I'm talking about I've done so much reading about this nonsense today lolll

I presume that means "Trans-Salvadorean" XD

Yeah, had a nine-tendo hooked up to an HDMI capture card. Admittedly my connection at the time was lousy - things have improved since then but I never played with it again.

From what I can tell, you need something beefier than that. Even so, the prices didn't seem that bad for what it was assuming your stream is making some sort of money to make it worth it. I looked briefly into a cheap hdmi capture cards to get around the hdmi-in only port on my computer but the conclusion I came to was that they were garbage. :undecided:

This week in music history, Ér's CD "The Third" was released 20 years ago on 5/5/2005.
The boundary between "world heritage" and "lost media" is paper-thin.
