Request thread/forum

Can we *please* have a thread in the downloads or a separate board for out-of-print stuff.

It would be great, as you can be surprised some of the stuff that comes up in the Downloads forum, it would be good, as we can request stuff that is hard to find and stuff we can't find.

I'm really not sure what you mean by a "separate board for out of print stuff". The Download section is already limited to out of print things.

Regarding requests... our philosophy on the issue is that the forum is there for people to share things they feel like sharing. We do not want to encourage people to come in and demand rare material. You get whatever you are lucky enough to be there to get. No one is entitled to recieve anything. The downloads section is a gift to the members, NOT the main focus of this site.

....Umm...I didn't make it out that it was the main feature of the forum O_o

So I don't know where you are getting that from.

Just a simple thread or something that people can request things, and if anyone has it and want to upload it then they can put it into the downloads forum. If not , well that's that.

Why look for something, when somone at -Scape- might have it.. that's all I am trying to say :/

If not, it's OK. I was just asking as it will benefit not only me , but others too.

I can't see the benefit. We have a rule against requests for a reason--the reason states above, and also because the requests we do get (and lock) are typically for inprint material anyway. All I can really see coming from a requests thread is people requesting things they aren't allowed to have posted, and people requesting things that no one has or no one feels like uploading.

This isn't a downloading site. The DL section is a little extra for people who post here. I'm hesitant to put any additional emphasis on it; that's why we implemented the no requests rule in the first place (and the 50 postcount rule).

I remember flowers saying that we can do some changed to -Scape- since it got move to www.scapeforums.com on the previous board before it got transferred. So what has changed here?

Why not start now?

Also, bit off topic, if flowers said we can change somethings, why can't we make a few changes i.e making the avatar limit a bit bigger in size? Or small images in signatures? Thanks!

And unless someone thought up a very good reason, no, I don't think we'd consider it.

We've been busy with the site since the old domain expired. As soon as we launch it we'll be making some changes to the forums too. But for now we're focusing all of our enegery on getting -scape- main back online! (And it's almost done!)

As far as avatar sizes and image signature:
I find our current avatar size to be perfect. It's large, but not large enough to be distracting. We don't allow image signatures because they're obnoxious and clutter things. So don't expect that to change. The board does perfectly well without them.

I was just throwing out some examples

and I meant "trial" sorry, laptops suck Have you and flowers thought of some changes? If so can you tell me (or us) what we will expect to see and about the signature thing, I said small images, because I already know the reason why we don't have sigs here. Ya know like a limit, how we have a limit on on our avatars.

Oh btw I meant FILE size, sorry. It's so I can make my animated GIF's longer or better quality.

We don't allow images in signatures because images are uniquely annoying in signatures, regardless of the file size. We post here to read each other's words, not their flashy signatures. If you want to have a picture, that's what we have avatars for.

And I don't think we're going to be increasing the file size limit. Large avatars are inconvenient to those on dial-up, and overly-animated avatars are annoying. A small file size limit addresses both of these problems nicely.
