Hello!
I am confused about the audio quality of the song SADNESS in different demo tapes. In any rips of "THE 1TH ANNIVERSARY" and the "SADNESS" demo tapes, the song sounds worse, "tape-ish": In any online rips, and in flowers' rips here on scape. But whenever I hear a "SADNESS" that has been taken from the promotional "SADNESS / SPEED OF DESPERATE", it sounds much cleaner. I wonder why that is! Why would the two tapes for commercial use contain a worse version then a promotional only tape? Is it because maybe every online rip comes from a fake or a photocopy tape, because the real ones are just too rare? Or is it really a mistake from the band?
Thanks!

Who says the "Sadness / Speed of Desperate" tape was promotional?

It would make perfect sense for a promotional copy for sending to record labels to be better quality than something they made in their garage to sell (or give away) at bars though XD "Commercial" isn't really the right word to describe the early demo tapes.

The early history of Malice Mizer seems to have been plagued with money shortages, so it wouldn't surprise me if they had to cut various corners at various times when producing demos. And the issue of duplication and plain old tape wear surely factors in as well.
