Oh, it looks ultron cool! ^^;
I've always liked the simplicity of the -scape- designs. I really ylike this color scheme too. ^____^

Heh, okay. Makes sense. :]

About the header -- other pictures might seem overbearing because of the size of them. Even the picture that's there now is a little huge, when I think about it.

I'd send an email, but I'd probably get really carried away, and that's pointless since you' said you'll end up rewriting it all. ;D But if you ever get around to finalizing the text and bios and such, let me know and I'll be more than happy to proofread and edit them for you. :]

Yeah, the header is big. I was already thinking about it all last night if I could snap the table to a new graphic or not. I would like small... but I built it around that pic. Maybe I could resize the pic but it is hard to keep it the same length.

And thanks for the offer, but you know, like I said, we will get to most of it. Amasanin and I will get to most of it ourselves and she is usually way better than me at catching stuff, so I think we'll be able to handle it ;)

Anyway, I posted it up unfinished to get feedback. Good and bad of course. Mostly everyone is cool with things and I am very happy with the end result myself, so it looks like it will be replacing the old very soon.

As for the pic... and the design itself. I don't know. I definitely like the dead space and I love the pic (and if you want to get technical, it is not shadows temple, but "perish" artwork ;).

What I want to acheive is almost a cold and dead feeling overall. May not be the most attracive, but I like this style... and I believe it serves as not being too flashy and distracting as well (something I hate about most websites. Just too much to take in, making it annoying to navigate though).
I love the colour scheme and I think the fact that you used very cold colours really sets -scape- apart from most other music websites that seem to overflow with 'red fires of hell' types of graphics. I also agree that a picture that is too busy might distract from the text (and no, the fact that I particularly like that picture did not influence my opinion). :)

Geisha... That's an excellent bio. Just enough and right to the point. Really good work. :twisted:
Thank you! :)

There's actually a very simple solution to that. (At least for the main header -- I don't know about whatever other images you might have been planning to use)

Shrink the main image to whatever height you want it to be, and then expand the picture on the left where the black space is to whatever length you need to fit the layout. I noticed the header already fades into a blank black bg with some textured brushes, so it should be a minimal hassle. Just add some more textures to the left, along with the -scape- logo, to balance out the new black space and there you are. The same graphic, same width, less height . ;D

Commentary from an artist's perspective

You've certainly made some good choices with teal, a rare thing to find, but there's just a little something missing. It's not a very, er, memorable color scheme even if it is teal-and-black. It needs a harmonizing color, like a soft greyish seafoam green to balance out the dark, dusty teal. I understand you want a more lifeless feel to your layout, Lejun, and it does invoke that sense of strolling through the graveyard on a chilly early-spring's eve. Now it just needs the slight colors of a faint moon-tinted mist to have the perfect setting :D

Perhaps you could tint the backgrounds of the boxed tables a little in this rare pigment, by adding a few (very faint and simple) smoky cloud graphics. I wish I could show you how, because the image is so vivid in my head of how it could be.

I have always loved -scape- and the new one is no exception. but the font in the upcoming releases part is too small, I can barely read it on my monitor.

I'm absolutely loving the organization, spacing, color scheme, graphics, and everything :grin:

but yeah, being a grammar freak, I'm glad the whole language problem was brought up (I was actually planning to do it myself^^; ) since you're already planning a rewrite, I'll leave you alone, but if you happen to need any extra proofreaders before it goes up, I'll gladly make myself available.

Hmm...I'm surprised no one's brought this up earlier, but as-is, the site isn't exactly firefox-friendly where you have text that "breaks" the main table's height. I'll be able to scroll down to where the cell on the right stops, and then any text in the middle cell beyond that is cut off with no way for me read it unless I refresh the page. This is most likely being caused by the current height value that you have set for the main table:
Code:
<table border="3" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse" bordercolor="#1E565D" width="750" height="1">

Now, when I saved the code for "news.html" locally, changed the height value to 100%, and viewed it in firefox, I was able to see the overflow text. Granted, the overflow spilled out of the table, but I was simply looking for quick-and-dirty fix at the moment:
Code:
<table border="3" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse" bordercolor="#1E565D" width="750" height="100">
I'm gonna keep at it a bit longer to see if I can't extend the table height in firefox, though. :mad:

Edit: ..evil smilies D:

..bah. I give up. Trying to wade through your code is making my head spin. ;_;
