Double post, but my copy of the single arrived, so mini-review!
To be honest, I don't know what to think.
Cocoon -fallen- isn't a super dark/electronic remix of it's predecessor - it's far more stripped back. It sounds like it would be a cool introduction track since the melody doesn't go anywhere, but no, they decided to make it the lead single. Kaya's vocals are kind of hushed like in Arachne (Queen) but I have no idea what he's saying. On the album art he's eating a cocoon/egg (?!?!) so yeah. It's a little creepy, but pretty disappointing for the a-side.
Succubus -2014- - I expected that if the a-side would be rubbish, this would be the saving grace. It's not. The vocals sound a little rushed, somewhat raspy -- It's a mess.
The cocoon -fallen- inst. is boring as hell so just ignore it, Succubus is kinda cool, though there's a drum kick used in the song and I have no idea whether it just sounds genuinely crunchy, but it doesn't sound great. Either way this is probably the best track of the album which reeeeaaallly says something.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed because it honestly feels like they put next-to-no effort in. Gebet sounded pretty promising, this is kind of lack-lustre. Hopefully whatever new material they release after this is a return to form because I'd hate to see them do a Velvet Eden/BLAM HONEY and release a load of sub-par work that tarnishes their name.
