Just finished watching Gackt on another episode of VS Arashi. But this time, he was on Arashi's team. There were some CHOICE moments: Gackt getting all up close and personal with a female comedian and even kissing her on the cheek, Arashi playing with his rings whenever he takes them off to play one of the games, Gackt actually giving Ohno (of Arashi) one of rings as it's his birthday (and he begged), Ohno subsequently hugging Gackt from behind and saying "Gakkun!"

Arashi + Gackt is awesome.

Keep in mind I'm a pretty casual Gackt listener but I didn't really like this new song. It wasn't nearly as cool or epic as Returner. I guess I was just expecting something really different since everyone was promoting the fact that he had VK artist in his video. I liked the violin solo though :-S

I also have to say that girl Gackt is the best thing ever

i loved it! and i'm not a Gackt solo fan at all. But for the stuff i've listen from his solo, this is definitively one of the most attractive songs to me =D

violin was gorgeous, sorta reminded me for once to Yu~ki.

Gackt'svoice ir amazing! god, i swear i felt my heart trembling almost like when i see Malice Gackt. Never felt this before in none of his solo songs.

So he wants to come back close to vk?

hehe maybe he wants to be in the V-Rock fest next year xD

I wasn't too impressed by this song, personally. It was only the parts where he was doing the octave jumps and then sort of ferally shouting where it started to get good. It was only in those sections where he sounded like his old self again.

Otherwise, the song as a whole is pretty mediocre for Gackt. The video was aesthetically gorgeous, but it really did remind me of stuff that Kagrra's done in the past with better songs than this. That, and the token blond white girl is always an annoying touch.

Ah well. I think Gackt's in another transition period. Here's hoping he comes out of it with better stuff.


edit: Oh my god, speaking of better stuff, I just watched returner again and saw something that the director did that I never even noticed before. Ok, to begin, we all know the non-samurai gackt in this PV is shinigami, right? Angel of death sort of thing. Starting at about 3:12, twice before gackt falls as the samurai, you see shinigami gackt as a blur with the image swaying before it pans down. It happens very quickly, but both times gackt falls after that 3:12 mark, it happens. That's the samurai him seeing the shinigami him moments before death. Blink and you'll miss it.

Holy hell, for a PV that was shot in 24 hours, this director really had his notes in order before he went in to shoot this thing, and he did an even better job in post production putting this thing together. What an intricate production- Gackt needs to use whoever that director was more often. He does amazing work, and as the daughter of a music video director, I approve!

It's so nice when things have playback value....I'm not sure how many else of you noticed that detail already, but it took me by surprise. Prolly 'cause the first five times I watched this PV when it came out I was always in tears by the time it got that far. ::kisaki::

I actually really liked this song. I didn't think it was boring at all. Even without the video it's beautiful. What especially gets me is the raw emotion in Gackt's voice (like with those octave hymps and shouting like Kyuketsuki mentioned), which sadly I don't think comes across in some of his more recent songs (but is certainly present in others). It's really emotional when you look at the lyrics. I found a translation on another forum, posted by user Kyosama.com to give them credit ^^

I'd politely disagree with saying that this song is bad or mediocre, that seems a little harsh. I reaaaaally agree with what Mademoisell Foille said here:

^ I was thinking of it in relation to Gackt's work as a whole. He's set some crazy high standards for himself, and I don't feel this song lives up to them. If it were any other artist, this song would probably be great, but when it comes to gackt, he could do better, I think. :/

mmm yeah he looks pretty as a girl, but i prefer him just the way he is
he did say in one of the interviews he looked scary, but only if you would have see his whole body, not just the upper part... and i take his word for it

as for vs arashi, i liked the show, but he could have given that girl/woman... she looked more of a girl to me... a proper kiss on the cheek not that fake hidden kiss, actually that reminded me of his Blue Lagoon performance where he caresses that mike stand, that performance annoys me even if i love the song, because the moves aren't natural, they looked forced to me... that performance made me want to shout 'caress it like you mean it, don't do it like a boy that never touched a woman before'

as for his new song i like it, because of the many instruments you can hear in it, because of the way he sings some parts (already mentioned by others), because of the amazing violin part
the music video is good (not surprised to see a blond girl in it...anyway)

I'm no Gackt expert by any means, but is it just me, or does dude have an excessively high number of ballads? This is probably why I've never gotten super into him. I mean, most of them are good ballads, but I'm just not a huge ballad fan.

I do enjoy his face and his voice though.
