Figured it's worth a separate thread. Link originally posted by Blue Moon: http://rooftop.cc/interview/004240.php Looks like Kozi officially "stopped solo activity" on 12/13/2011 and ZIZ is his "new band" which will be having its first live and selling its first release on 5/29/2012. The members are apparently Kozi's usual crew of drinking buddies: Kozi, Jiro, Sugiya, Charge, and Yugami. The music is apparently going to be "a different sort of thing" from Kozi solo, which I'm pretty disappointed (but not surprised) to hear. I dunno, we'll see.
What are you so upset about? XD At least he's doing something now and releasing music. I mean let's face it, his "solo activity" has been unofficially over for years anyway.
Koji wrote: I think you got something mislabeled as XA-VAT. XV was unquestionably the worst thing I've ever heard Kozi put out. I'll give ZIZ the benefit of the doubt, but Kozi's really gotta step it up.
I really loved his solo activity and knowing it officially ended makes me really sad. But looking at the band members without any makeup makes my hopes go to the roofs Will eagerly look forward to it!
I really liked the first XA-VAT single and video, Zerotica, but most of the rest of the album is cringe-worthy. It had some new wave going on, of course (which I love), but the rest of the elements they threw in with it didn' t work that well. I'll give it this though: it was weird. I can appreciate that they were trying to do something different. I can't think of anyone I can compare them to. I don't know how much of that can he attributed to Kozi though. I'm not sure who wrote what and who was the primary creative force in the band. It certainly didn't sound much like his solo work or what he contributed to MM and EoD. So, I'm still fairly confident in his abilities to write songs that I like. It's interesting how his work in MM sounded like his solo work but filtered through the lens of the rest of the band. Like, I imagine if he had written a song like Incoherents, with its schizophrenic circus music-like melody, for MM, it would've ended up sounding like Illuminati (with its schizophrenic circus music-like melody). In EoD, he wrote or co-wrote songs that were at times reminiscent of his more industrial solo songs (like Grottesca or Ism). My point is, though his solo career is very diverse, there's still a rather recognizable Kozi Sound that can be picked out even when he's playing in a band. I didn't hear much of that sound in XA-VAT.
I think solo project stop in moment him not more releases , him solo lives , I ask me why him no more releases
did you guys, already read this interview? http://bara-trans.livejournal.com/237032.html in it Közi explains ZIZ is not exactly another band, they just are being playing together for a few years and it seems it sounded a bit weird to them to continue just being called "Közi solo"
Looks like we have an album coming our way soon ZIZ 1st.ALBUM『GIFT』 2012/05/29 ON SALE (from charge's facebook.) http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... e=1&ref=nf
The song samples sound pretty good! The mixing doesn't sound that great, but I'll take what I can get.
Hi, everyone! I've been a lurker here for about a year, but after meeting some of you in Seattle I thought I'd actually sign up. I wanted to share the previews of the new ZIZ album for those that have not yet heard it: http://soundcloud.com/zizofficial (I got the above link from the ZIZ twitter feed.)
