As you know, I adore both of them ^^ *and Juka, somehow*

But Amiyu and I were talking about the three, and he pointed out that a lot of people think Kaya's absolutely wonderful, while they ignore Juka...he likes Juka *laughs*
I was being kind of flippant and silly that night, so neither of us ended up saying anything of any value but...

If it's not too embarrassing, what do people find in Kaya that makes them like him so much? He always seemed pretty...normal (well, that's not the right word, but)...to me...

He's always struck me as very charismatic...he laughs a lot, is happy and silly and sweet. Good taste in clothes and visuals, great voice...it's mostly his personality and his childishness about things that I love (his obsessions with Disney and roses). He just seems very likable to me.

*gasps* You know Amiyu? O_O
But getting back to your question...At first it was only his voice that I loved. Then I started to think he's a really pretty person...and quite feminine, and I really love girly/womanly guys^^.And then he opened his site and I got to know how cute he is(thanks for all the translations, faith!Kami bless you!:*).He's so...squishy and bubbly and adorable that it's rather impossible not to like him.And he's such a kid, though he's an adult already.
...And one day I started to call him my daughter Oo; (don't ask,I don't know^^; )

I think I like Kaya too much -_- I'm not entirely sure why. I think for me it's mostly a combination of his lyrics (when I'm feeling bad for some reason I always like to listen to Perfect Garden or Current and I like the imagery he makes) and his voice, but also the way he dressed and stuff in Schwarz Stein. As for prefering him to Juka...I think it's easier for people to think that they know him than Juka, since wrote lyrics and writes in his journal (which you translate so kindly ^_^). I also think he might give off a feeling of helplessness and sadness that makes people go "awww" and want to help him and comfort him. Even if you can't thinking that you could be able to is probably something that appeals to people...especially girls maybe...well I don't know. I think that may be the main reason people like him sooo much (including myself >_> What an awful thought), as opposed to Juka who we seem to know less about, or Hora who is weird and only likes his cat apparently.

Also like...in Perfect Garden, Kaya is like "I wanna run away with you!~" where as in Inner Universe Hora is like "escape into your own inner world"...so maybe people want Kaya to take them into his world instead of having to make their own and be happy by themselves. Well, I don't know. Maybe people do just like his voice and I'm inventing mental problems *lol*

I'll be a voice of dissention.

I thoroughly enjoy Schwarz Stein's music, but let's face it: with a grand total of 20 songs that Kaya sang on in 3 years, it's just odd to me how he's built up a fan base around very little material, and now he's sort of become a subculture celebrity without having to do anything. I don't doubt that he seems very charismatic and fun, and I liked his lyrics a lot too, but he doesn't seem to have anything in the works or cooking on the back burner, so I personally have very little interest in him right now. I see it as he's keeping a blog or livejournal; not using his website to promote any work.

I'm sure in one or more of faith's translations he as mentioned he is trying to get back to the stage as soon as he possibly can. I don't think it's fair to say that he has nothing planned or forthcoming, but rather that he's struggling to get into the position of a performer again, for whatever reason.

As for Kaya's personality, there is something quite loveable about him, and this is from someone who has never actually seen him in person, but the way he writes and comes through in his voice is quite beautiful I find. He's almost not male :|

I think I'm with Elec on this one. Kaya may be very pretty, cute, charming, charismatic and, as far as you can tell from his diary entries, a nice and fun person, but beyond that I don't actually find him very interesting. I do think, however, that he is a very talented vocalist and lyricist and I hope that he will be able to put his talent to good use again very soon.

Yeah,he did.He does want to come back, actually, but he said it may take some time, didn't he?We don't always get what we want so easily.Sometimes we need to fight for it for some time.

Yep...and these "atashi" and such words he uses...One of my friends told me "atashi" is used only by women. :| And Juka,Kazuno and Tohru were talking about him as "she","her" and "Kayako".That was pretty amusing and made me wonder if they knew Kaya isn't a girl :D

I tend to go "Awww,how cute!^o^ *squish*" or "Awww,my poor baby...;__; *BIG HUG*" when I read his journal ^^;
...or "Why,you little...XD"...well,I did only once...when I saw his answer to my question.Yep,I asked him how tall he is ^^;

For me, because I have a very hard time at home with very strict parents and being so very lonly ideas of paradise, everything around me just dieing, a new more tolerant race greatly apeals to me. It's asthough he has created this little world for all his listeners which is comforting.

I treat his lyrics like poetry, and I write a lot of poetry which is similar, not exactly but some themes are even if they are very hidden. Where was I going with this...oh yeah his lyrics....a lot of the time people throw them aside and say they are worthless and after that rejection you tend to be able to apriciate his style a bit more.

Also his voice is very gentle, calms me down in a way, something you can fall asleep to when you are crying.

Visually he looks so fragile it just adds to everything making him so pwetty

Sorry but I didn't make any sence.

heh >.<

Schwarz Stein was the first non-Ayumi Hamasaki Japanese band that I really, truly liked. Before them I liked mostly Ayumi, random opening songs for anime such as Rockman.EXE, Fullmetal Alchemist, Princess Tutu, Hikaru no Go... but Schwarz Stein were my first. So I suppose that does make me slightly biased, but... Kaya has charisma, he's funny, sweet, child like, and all that. He writes astounding lyrics, has a beautiful voice, and is doing his best to keep in contact with his fans right now. While I do think Juka also has an astounding voice, there is simply so little to judge his character on... although I'm certain he is just as sweet as Kaya, Kaya isn't afraid to be childish and silly.

I like Kaya because, number one, he has amazing talent as a vocalist (PS: Don't forget ISOLA! eventhoughthereareonlythreesongs*cough*), he seems like a really nice person too! I remember hearing the telephone interview with Schwarz Stein and I don't think I have heard any Japanese artist laugh that much or sound like they have that much fun in an interview! Thats a reason I thought, hey this guy's pretty cool!

He seems like he is a sophisticated person as well, from his journal entries to his lyrics.

This was an interestingly good thread!

Okay, my thoughts.

I probably agree with KK *lol* Isn't that what Disney World's for too?
But I prefer Hora's Inner Universe because...well...I told him already, and flowers, and that's enough :P
But maybe he's not all that different. Remember? "Well it was me and my cat's birthday and I went and got a cake all by myself (aka. all alone on my birthday, maybe. That's how I read it)."
Japan's lonely if you're by yourself...

Ningyou: You've just hit upon one of the major Onnagata tennants. There was a good quote that went something like this:

"Men should see an onnagata and think, 'I wish there were a woman like that! An onnagata's female fans shouldn't fall in love with him, or he is doing his job wrong...Women should try to emmulate onnagata, and visa versa"

Well, they weren't considering homosexual attraction there, because they were trying to get away from that and validate themselves as real actors, but...it's kinda there.

Elec: He's not THAT much of a subculture celebrity in Japan. If he is, it's overseas, and I do think some of it has to do with people who can't read Japanese having access to his diary entries. I mean, no one ever goes "oh! What Miyavi said on Sept 30 about how he was writing his entry while he was having sex was so cute!" They wouldn't anyway, but now they can't read it, and so they can't even if they would :P I don't mind Miyavi, btwn. He's silly and talentless, and oh so terrifying it is cute in the end...

Devil Usagi: Who throws his lyrics aside?!? As if Gackt's and Morning Musume's are good...

I hope he gets over whatever was stopping him from singing again too...

Oh yeah, and I do know Amiyu. He tried to convince me not to hate smarmy git's guts, and then we ended up talking for, like, an hour. He's really friendly ^^

That "onnagata" tenant is exactly like the "otokoyaku" tenant for the Takurazuka Revue. :)

I didn't say Japan and I didn't mean that; I should have clarified.

And I don't read Miyavi's diary even though I'm a decently-big fan of his... so I don't know if what you said is remotely true... and also I don't think he's talentless at all...but at least you don't mind him.

There is something remarkable in Kaya’s voice that draws me to him. I don’t know what it is exactly, but all I know is that I have yet to find that quality anywhere else. When listening to him, for a few moments, reality fades away and I’m transported to some mystical place where I can feel calm and safe. This is what I felt when I heard Perfect Garden for the first time, and since then, he’s just sort of always been there. I feel oddly comforted by him. I will admit, though, that he’s beautiful and somewhat unique, and an amazing lyricist. I think what drew me in more were the lyrics, I can relate to in my own way (especially Current and Transient, both of which I listen to almost every day). I guess most people can heh.

I like Hora almost as much too, but for somewhat different reasons. But I think I'm drawn to the escapism in his music as well. Funny thing is, when I first saw a picture of Schwarz Stein, I thought the singer was Hora and I thought Kaya was a woman o.O

I thought the same thing XD Then roughly a month later I discovered Kaya was the vocalist and was like :|. For some reason, I mentally put him on synth, and Hora looked to be more of a frontman. Man was I wrong XD

EDIT : Kaya and Hora do both appeal to me as well. There was something different about SS, that no other artists I've listened to as of yet have been able to capture in quite the same way.

I can't see myself getting bored of Hora's music, as he seems to be going in the more trancey direction I have to say I was kinda hoping for, and as for Kaya, I hope whatever he's planning on setting up right now, will do him justice. I'm sure it will.

However, I kinda wish those guys would just realise they were meant to be together, and revive Schwarz Stein already :| Hora's music sounds a little empty without Kaya's vocals. There is still so much more SS could do, and I hope they realise that.

@faith. You'd be surprise I was reading though Schwarz Stein lyrics at school when some girls wondered by and said "What u doin'". I held up the paper and they read it and started laughing saying "Whats all this crud? Did u write this? Cuz you really need a life if you did". Stuff like that always seems to happen to me...sadly  but I don't care I have my Kaya printed picture

@ everyone talking about this Kaya male or female thing. Most people say "Thats not really a guy...I want proof, look at his profile" XD
In the end people just except either that he is male or I am metally disturbed XD

*grumbles* Kaya's lyrics may be kind of hard to understand, but there is nothing to laugh at!It only shows how narrowminded they are by saying such things!Would they laugh at "Current" for example? It's wonderful poetry!
