T is for Tiffany, which could not possibly be a less-fitting name for me.

When I was a kid this was considered an unusual name but these days 9 out of 10 cheerleaders (or strippers) seem to be named Tiffany.

My middle name is Alyce (pronounced "Alice") after my mother. I'm not pleased with this name either.

At least when my stepfather adopted me at 14 I got to change my last name from goddamned "Butkiewicz" to a much more pleasing one. I've kept it to this day rather than take my husband's name (partially because I find it degrading that women are expected to change their names when they marry but mostly because my father having adopted me makes it a name that means a lot to me).

^ My little sister is called Tiffany!

When she tells people her name they seem to assume she says a more common name like "Stephanie" because Tiffany is really really uncommon here.

^ I used to get that a lot and sometimes still do. There a people that still think my name is Stephanie because I never bothered to correct them.

@ Iskanderia: How do you pronounce Butkiewicz?

My name is Adis, a very uncommon name in my country which is good but once you start mixing the letters, well... Let's just say you get weird names, yet I love it cuz no one has the name. The same goes with the middle name which is Jeset, it's awesome cuz no one has it. :D

Your first and middle names are both cool (partially because I've never heard either before). I'm particularly fond of "Jeset" and I plan on stealing it for a character in a story or something. What country are you from?

^Ok. It sounds a little weird though.

I'm from Puerto Rico, an island in the middle of nowhere; and you can steal "Jeset" for character naming.

Darja ... when I was younger, I used to hate it, because I was the only one with that name, and it sounded too exotic for Germany (I was born in Russia).
But when I discovered the band Nightwish and their former singer Tarja (it's the finish version of my name), I got so much more courage. And now that I'm older I don't care anymore at all. I do like the uniqueness of my name and it's meaning to me.

Thank you very much! I don't think I've heard anything that flattering lately! (And I'm still grinning and blushing like mad  )

Mine sounds.. boring.. french.. XD it's Geneviève. But I admit it's fun to hear non-french people trying to pronounce it, hehe.
