Just wondering, out of curiosity... since there's always the 'Gackt and his Engrish' joke, I thought why not see who everyone thinks is best.

If I've forgotten someone, let me know. o-o/

It's kinda funny, I've only heard Mana speak a little bit of english, and it's pretty good. Gackt, I don't remember him speaking it, or trying to. Weird, that I haven't heard any of the other two speak it, since I only hear them in Japanese...

Well, I personally haven't heard them speak English (aside that one 'Spider in the brain' thing from Közi), but they do write in it a lot. o_o;

A lot of Közi's lyrics contain English, Klaha wrote Beast of Blood, Gackt had S-Conscious, Mana had Kyomu... that's really the basis I was talking about for this. In the song lyrics.

Well, I can definitely rule Gackt out. His English is horrible!

Here's a little section from December Love so you can see what I mean:

I'm so depressed living , a quiet life now,
There is no one here, in which to hold hands,
or protect me from the cold
Feeling like this loneliness will tear me apart
I am waiting and looking for you voice
To get me out of the dark

Yeah, I love him and all, but he's the master of Engrish. ^^ S-Conscious also its fair share of Engrish, too...
That's probably why he doesn't normally write in English...

I haven't heard much of the others' English, but from what I have heard, I think Mana's is the best.

as far as speaking english and using it correctly, i'm gonna bet on közi. klaha's resembles english although i have no idea still wtf he's saying in "beast of blood", and gackt is...gackt's engrish is just beyond repair. mana...haven't heard him speak, and although his english lyrics can be pretty good, i'm still thinking közi has the upper hand there.

Well, Gackt can't speak any language so... ^^''' Poor guy. I've only heard Kozi really say "Spider in the Brain.", and I've only heard Mana speak in the song. So I'd have to vote for Klaha. ^__^ I can usually make out his english. ^^b

This is pretty hard, since I've only heard Mana say a couple of things in english. So I voted on Mana....

If you want to hear Kozi english then listen to Houkai Jokyoku...the way he says "diminishing vision" is lovely ^_^ I voted Kozi if it wasn't obvious by now.

How is anybody here supposed to determine the guys' command of English when there is so little to go by? This poll is going to be almost 100% guesswork. :P

Actually, Közi speaks/understands hardly any English at all. I met him in Berlin last weekend and the little episode with the girl who wanted to talk to Haruhiko and him and ended up with an autograph instead couldn't have happened otherwise. She tried to talked to him for 5 minutes or longer and the only word he understood was "sign".

I heard Mana speak French and from what I could hear over the screaming and cheering of the audience it sounded pretty good and accent-free. As for his English, I'm less sure. IF Mana is Shadow X and IF the voice at the end of Monophobia is his then at least his phonetic English isn't bad but whether he actually writes the lyrics himself or they are translated is another question. I think he may have used a translator for Bara no Seidou since the English on Dix Infernal and Nocturnal Opera has many more grammar mistakes than that on Bara no Seidou. That doesn't prove that he wrote the lyrics himself though. Maybe he is just using a different (less capable) translator now. When I talked to him in Paris I felt sure he understood what I was saying (there is a difference between just smiling to be polite and seeing actual recognition in somebody's eyes) and his reaction matched my words but then again maybe the only thing he understood was "thank you".

Mana wrote the music for Beast of Blood and Klaha wrote the lyrics, based on Mana's "brief". Klaha's phonetic English isn't bad either but again I'm not sure if his lyrics were translated or if he wrote them himself (although going by the interview it sounds like he did write them in English).

Mana sure knows a lot of words that I haven't heard of until
he released his songs! @___@ Must have a big vocabulary.

Maybe he studied hard for his TOEFL exams!

That still doesn't mean that he didn't use a translator.

That doesn't mean he did us a translator, either.

Seriously, though, I'm not trying to say you're wrong. But I don't think Mana's the type or person who would us a translator like that. But for all I know, you could very well be right. But I just don't see it as something he would do.

As for the Közi thing.... not saying you're wrong, but it could have been a number of reasons as to what happened, though you are probably right about it. He could just been so annoyed with the girl, he did what he thought was best to get rid of her. But anyway... :P I think it's cute that he did that, actually.

I'm not wrong on this. I was standing right next to her and they were basically communicating by hand signs at one point. There are also many reports by other people about Közi speaking very little English.

As for Mana, I suspect he used a translator for Bara no Seidou, simply because the grammar seems to be much better than on DI and NO. I actually think he is writing the English lyrics for M10M himself but, again, there is no proof of that.

The fact that anyone voted for Mana just seems.. insane to me. The man never speaks publicly so how can you vote on something you've never heard? Klaha SANG songs in English, so did Kozi, so did Gackt. Gackt.. terrible, Kozi.. good, but I go with Klaha since I can make out his english very well. But that could all change on Kozi's second solo album, might just make me think differently and that he's the best.

I think Gackt *speaks* English better than he *sings* English...but I'm only basing this off of a few clips I've seen, like "I'm a little bit tired" and "I GOT IT!". Plus, I've seen some emails people have received from him in English.
