^ I think there is a good chance E-Z, Mr. Vital and The 艶℃ Baby are his influence, they almost smell like something eve of destiny. (music line wise that is) Then again I am not very known with GOATBED's music but those 3 tracks to me are screaming eod style. Though it might be just me but somehow the intro of Mr. Vital slightly, just slightly, reminds me a bit of Malice Mizer's aegen.

So, I have to leave against my will to board a plane back to America in a few hours, but a little while ago I came back from XA-VAT's instore event in Umeda. I got there a few minutes late, so I was in the back. I was surprised to see XA-VAT had so many fans.
But Sadie and Shuuji were there, being casual and their usual fashion-conscious selves--although neither of them were wearing any makeup, and Shuuji looked kind of scary. Though, his hair is gorgeous and long like some kind of diva, or that guy from La'cryma Christi.
They answered a few fans' questions (a lot of which had to do with the VAT-DANCE PV) and they made fun of the emcee because she said XABAT, not XAVAT. They enjoyed teasing her, I think.
Nothing remarkable, unless you're into stupid trivia like "who owns an iPhone?". They mentioned Kozi a couple of times and only mentioned Takao once. Poor guy. One can almost forget he's even in the band.

Questions over, then it was line-up-and-get-your-present time, for the people who had tickets. The special "event only" present was just a sticker,-- no different than the ones they were selling in their "boutique." It was a typical and almost robotic process of shake-hand, give-sticker, bow slightly. But then it was my turn and Sadie remembered me and seemed a little more genuine with his handshake-and-smile combo. He asked me if I was really returning to America and seemed disappointed. He paused as if he wanted to say more and held up the line a bit (whoops) but we exchanged thank yous and carried on. Yay. Fangirl moment over, then shaking Shuuji's hand and trying not to be freaked out by his natural appearance. The centipede of handshakers finish up. Sadie and Shuuji leave, the crowd dissipates, and that was the endo, baby.

I listened the album, and so far, i think it's a solid album, but i would pick these as the best tracks: ZEROTICA, VAT-DANCE, INVASION-NOVATION, THE 艶℃ BABY and EPOC TRACE. I think Zerotica sounds like something Kozi would come up with or, at least, co-write, not sure about the other songs.

"can't understand shit about what I'm saying."

"And in the anime Zoid there is a bat character with the name "Zabat". I didn't tell that to the other band members thought. After the band name has been decided upon "in fact, in the anime Zoid...." (laugh)."

I think I like this guy. Need more Shuuji information.
Thanks for it!

You already got your copy?! I'm jealous. O_o;; Mine went from Alaska to Tennessee, I hope it finds its way into my house tomorrow because I am thisclose to forgetting the whole thing. :))

And re: the Show Your Heart thing on LJ... it seems to be a collaborative effort among artists? Because I thought I saw that on Gackt's website XD

Oh myyy thank you Pierrot! I still can't believe they've got a CD out and I'm here, without it, and to think I was all excited about it.. Plus there's a dvd. With sexy stuff. That'll teach them dudes to release singles and albums far enough apart. Like, hmpf.

I got mine yesterday and I've only listened to it once so far (in my car where I couldn't pay super-close attention) but here's my extensive review based solely on my first impressions:

Y'know, after reading your comment, I don't know if I should feel really bad for wasting my money. ::bleh:: I just got my copy today and my entire family thinks it's a bomb ::meev::

And seriously, why did I get charged $20 for customs fees? They never did it the first time.

Cheese is my favorite flavor~

Long story short, I probably won't be able to go back to Japan this year, so I may have a XA-VAT concert ticket up for sale for the Osaka May 8th "Japan Tour" live, if anyone else likes cheese as much as I do.

My copy of the album FINALLY came today ::kisaki::

It's not as bad as I was fearing, actually. I enjoyed "Mecca" and "THE 艶℃ BABY" the most, and Mr.VITAL and E-Z weren't bad either. The rest were professionally done but forgettable.

But even so - this style of music, even in the songs I liked, is never going to be my favorite, I dunno. I think I prefer something with more of a melody. Even something like "Mecca", it's not like you'd remember the tune afterward.

Haven't watched the DVD yet...

It's not bad and I do like some of the songs but it's surprisingly, I don't know...goofy? I like new wave so that's not a problem on its own but some of the songs are that super-cheesy type of new wave that's kind of embarrassing.

Some of it reminded me of this dumb song (which I like sort of ironically) complete with female vocals:

I only heard it all yesterday.

It's some of those songs that you like instantly but yeah, it's super fun and then you just forget.
I am pleasently surprised at how they really got that special 80's sound down in some of the songs, it's hard to get by that feeling in modern music.

And I did want to have a VAT-DANCE session when I came home today. I wanna dance gay like Shuuji. Badly.

Yeah, I agree. It sounds like a collection of well produced but forgettable filler tracks. I love 80s music, so the style of music is actually a bonus, but while they captured that 80s power pop vibe really well, they didn't manage to capture its catchiness. Overall I'm glad I didn't buy the CD.
