Zigzo is back! This was just announced at Sakura's Birthday live todaywhere Tetsu, Ryo and Den were guest appearing separately but deep down figured Zigzo would perform! Hopefully this will lead to a new album as I find Zigzo to be a Beatles-of sort, producing better work together than they ever did separately (and I say this with much love to nil).

Back on June 20th they started rehearsing and made the determination to have a real full-blown reunion. Sakura was already performing with Ryo and Den as By-Sex so it was just a matter of Tetsu, who originally left the band/put it on pause to restart nil. Zigzo has performed once or twice in recent years and Tetsu has performed with Ryo or Sakura more frequently in the last year which probably led to or was a result of their summer decision.

Tetsu is even supporting that original Zigzo look, dyed hair, and brown leather jacket like he used to! Less indie rockstar he portrays in nil and JJA and more over the top "I wanna be a rockstar" rockstar.

They'll be performing on 2012-03-17 Akasaka Blitz. 10 years after they last performed together at the same venue.

I almost would seriously consider flying there to see them perform live. Too bad I have a wedding to go to the day before! BLARGH

OMG, I can't believe this! Zigzo is definitely the best band Tetsu was ever in. Those guys worked so well together, they always struck me as "the perfect team". And the epitome of a dudes' band.

Is it me or the first link says you can still buy the Last Scene DVD? I'd love to have it.

Thanks a lot for this news, cardy! You made my day. :D I wish I could attend that concert too!

I read these terrific news on Den's blog yesterday and got VERY excited.

I was planning to go to Japan in April, but for Zigzo's live's sake I could have changed my schedule. But unfortunately it seems like I won't go neither in April not in March

Yes, they will either record that live for DVD release or definitely perform throughout the year.

It seems to be the trend that when bands revive they do so indefinitely even if they don't ultimately release an album. So I expect to see Zigzo to be around for a little while!

I'm almost in tears! This has become definitely one of my favorite bands now. Only in this year! I'm so excited about this!

This is definitely a band worth to follow!
Thanks for the details, cardy!

I hope so much for a live DVD of that concert now! Not the same as attending, of course, but something to very much look forward to though! :D

This was just shared by Sakura on Facebook and Twitter:

They look pretty aged, specially Tetsu. But kickass as always.

Also Den just posted something about Zigzo in his blog.

Yes, Tetsu has noticeable aged but I suppose that could be a product of having been on the 'scene' since he was 20. We've seen him in his youth.

And I guess the same could be said about Ryo and Den who've been at it since 88. So yea, I just think those guys smoke too much and it has more of an effect on some more than others. I'm more concerned about their voice tho. Tetsu has become seriously ill-trained and gruffy with his vocals in the last 6 years or so following Scherzo/Agape.

And here's a translation (with a little help from Rikaichan) of what Den said:

"The news of Zigzo's revival has received unbelievably happy reactions from all over! Thank you to all of those who've left enthusiastic comments on this blog! And, don't worry everyone, Test-No will still be here...It'll be alright! test-no will continue on living...rather, it'll keep going on forever, so don't worry! Alright then! Next year is going to be a good one!"

And what the hell, I just saw that test-no came out with their first full album practically at the same time as the By-Sex album in August. Those guys seriously need to promote and advertise more!

They all look fine to me. They probably would look even better if they didn't smoke, but I'm afraid that's asking too much of a Japanese man.

Zigzo's new website was just announced and the upcoming concert has been officially dubbed 'The 2nd Scene Zigzo'.

Their first one-man live in 1999 was called 'The 1st Scene Zigzo' and their last live in 2002 was called 'The Last Scene Zigzo' so this new name is appropriately titled.

http://zigzo.net/

Also, they'll be selling a rehearsal live from 2011-06-20 exclusively at the upcoming live show. It'll contain 10 songs. It's uncertain as to whether this is a CD or DVD.

Concert's title is appropiate indeed. Their new website is pretty nice :) even though their old website is still up, lol. Funny because the old website has been the only source of lyrics I've found so far... and when I saw that there is no lyrics in the new website I got a little scared D:! Hope they don't take down the old website or at least it would be nice if they get lyrics in the new one :)

It is odd that the old site is still up, and has been up for the last 10 years since they've been officially gone. Long ago I saved all of those lyrics in case they ever pull them down. Usually they have this horrible habit of pulling the official OHP as soon as a band disbands or once the DNS expires.

I can't think of another Japanese band that shares lyrics like that, especially for every single song. It makes it extra easy to use rikaichan that way.

And an update from that previous post. The 2011-06-20 will be released as a 10 song CD. I didn't even listen to that audio on the website when I posted before but it's interesting to hear Tetsu's sandpaper voice (thanks to smoking/drinking/lack of vocal training) against those Zigzo songs which were always more pop-rockish and now have a slightly darker edge to him because of his vocals.

To be honest I liked that little fragment of "splash" more than the version in add9 suicide. Sounds better IMO, even with all of those years changing Tetsu's voice that much. Or maybe it is the excitement of knowing that the band is active again, hahaha

I really doubt they do anything outside of Japan but it would be really awesome. At least they should come to an anime con or something.

FFFFF can't wait~

I just hope they record and release this 2nd Scene Live as a DVD! With production and camera equipment being so cheap, it's a no-brainer to me!

I appreciate the new renditions of those songs simply because they're new versions but I do prefer the originals. And my all time favorite Tetsu voice award still goes to Mega8ball. Lyrics aside, he was tops back then!

Everyone has said such promising things about this band and the only post-MM Tetsu I listen to is nil, so before the live comes I am going to immerse myself into Zigzo and see what's up.

Anyone care to give me a road map or can i just start anywhere? XD

If you like it you can start by listening to the albums chronologically. Discography is indeed in the official site. I'd give you some download links but the albums are still available at amazon.co.jp, lol

With listening to Monster Music and then Add9 Suicide would be enough to know pretty much about them.
