sinhonornihumanidad? I think there's only one person who would get that... ::shifty::

Anyways,
John Myung. (Some stupid Venezuelan threw [accidentally]a shirt at his face and he kept playing - he's..god, or something. :| )
Misa!
& L'Arc~en~Ciel's Tetsu. I really like the bass in some Laruku songs.

This is going to make me the most ignorant person on the planet, but 99% of the Japanese bassists mentioned here I think are nowhere near fantastic.

Anyway, John Myung, Victor Wooten, WHY HAS NO ONE MENTIONED JACO PASTORIOUS?, OR CHRIS SQUIRE?, Tony Levin (WHY NOT HIM EITHER??), ... I'm a prog whore so maybe that's why.

I myself as a bassist am one of the minority who HATES JACO PASTURIUS WITH ALL HIS HEART! [my heart xD] I HATE HIM!!!!!!!!!

I hope I was clear enough

...why do you 'hate' him?

And that's one of the things I like about him; his ability to turn the bass into a jazz instrument that COULD be improvised on in solos. I guess you have to enjoy jazz to enjoy him at all, I guess.

Again, I'm definately gonna have to say Victor Wooten tops anyone I've seen in here so far. Though, I must add Jaco Pasturius isn't bad, and neither is Steve Bailey, Marcus Miller (like I said before), and Larry Graham.

I agree, most J-rock bassists are nothing compared to these guys. And I saw somewhere along the line Cliff Burton was mentioned. I personally don't think he's nearly as good as he's made out to be. "Woo, I can use distortion on a bass, now I'm a good bassist!"

Also, I think Kazuno was a very low level bassist. He could slap, as seen in the one solo, but that's about it. Definately not the greatest... XD

There's my two cents. Again.

I'm really tempted to say Rame, just to piss Elec off. :D

But I won't, because I know he's not the greatest or anything, but I enjoy his sound and style.

He really wasn't that great though. xD It was like.. 32nd notes that were done really sloppily. I understand exactly what you mean.

Kagrra,'s bassist's name is Nao.

As for bassists, I really think that Aurora's bassist is great (Muramasa)!

Ah, another bassist came to mind. I think Saburou (ex-Gift) is AMAZING. I love his bass solos.

Les Claypool. The man is a master on his bass.

Also Collide's bass player. I think his name is Kai.
When I saw them live he was playing this monsterous 12-string bass.

Cliff Burton (RIP)

and of course, Peter Steele.

well, but even before him there were lots of bassist who have always improvised and done solos [improvising or whatever], he was the first famous one to do it, it's nothing new.... I do like jazz, I despise Jaco, well... I wouldnt hate him so much but I think he is the most overrated bassist ever!
