Okay, I have had a problem with my computer for quite some time now and I have beensearching for an answer and have yet to get one, so basically I am trying EVERYWHERE to get an answer to my problem. So I am hoping someone here can help.

OK, one day out of the blue for some unknown reason, my computer stopped running 3D things right. Everytime I open any of my 3D games (Silent Hil 3, UT2k4, Alice, etc.) it freezes up. Only on the 3D parts though, not the videos or menus. Its freezes up, but then will run for a second, then freeze up, Like a CD skipping REALLY badly or something.

I tried updating my graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200) drivers, I tried messing with the settings, I tried defragging, and I even tried reformatting my computer. But nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

OK, I was messing around with some stuff. And while I was messing around with the settings for Unreal Tournament 2004, I changed the 3D rendering setting from "Direct3D" to "Software". And while it looks like crap, the game runs. So evidently the problem lies within "Direct3D". Though I don't know how to fix it.

did you try to replace your video card with another one? i really think you should.

Does your computer crash when you run a heavy application like a huge video file or photoshop? if so, you can also consider your main memory. Try replacing them and make some tests, and you will find the source of your problem.
