kyo should sing for moi dix mois, not permanently, just for one song.
Yeah, and then Mana should compose something for Diru. That way, both bands can temporairly be nothing that makes them what they are. o.o

Tetsu and Kyo aren't really in the same category... they're both rather unique in their vocals, but that's about it. (OT:I must admit, I'm trying my best to ween myself onto Tetsu's MM songs. Felt it was dumb of me to ignore their entire first album just because I had a beef with Tetsu's voice... I don't like it, but it's not THAT bad. Just a matter of taste, as Kyo's voice is. I'm trying my best to acquire that taste.)

I love Kyo to death. I know he's awesome because, by all standards I have of vocalists (who ALWAYS determine whether or not I like a band), he's completely off. With the way he sings, I should hate him and laugh at people who thinks he's cool. But I don't. He's one of my favorite vocalists that I've heard--not because he's GOOD, but because he's different and crazy, and does his craziness well.

Everything about Kyo is fasinating to me--his voice, his...utterences, his looks, his personality, his stage presence, everything. He's my second most-loved VK personality--the first being Mana, o'course. How a man can sing so prettily then scream so awfully, look so feminine then be so scary, act so cute yet creepy, vomit on stage and make it look cool (when I look down on shock value crap like that)... dude. The man MUST has something going for him if he can win over a picky music snob like me.

(p.s: Drain Away=blah. Ain't Afraid to Die=TOTAL WIN. Especially live. :D)

Probably a rumor... barring the possibility that Kyo could have broken into Mana's house and projectile-vomited all over his wardrobe...

Mixed feelings towards Kyo

That man needs something going for him if he also scars himself and beats his chest with the microphone on stage.

I wish somebody would set that rumour straight cause I'm curious. What I know is that Kyo (or DEG in general?) have said that Mana should stop paying so much attention to how he looks and start writing proper music.

Yes? No?

The other day I read an old topic in "a visual kei board" (ex-inertia's vk board) which was "Jrock fights" it was soooo goood hahaha (X Japan fist fighting with another glam band of that times)... and they were talking about Kyo making fun of some "effeminate band"... which it's probably Malice Mizer...

I'm afraid I agree with Cookie, when it comes to Kyo's voice and Dir en Grey. I'm sorry, he just can't sing. And to be honest, the only Dir en Grey song I like is Garden. I'm not a fan of the screaming, screeching, gurgling or anything else, that he does. Not only is it painful (for me, at least) to listen to, but it's bad on your voice. Strains one's vocal chords, and is hard on your throat.

I'll admit, it does take talent to do that, especially if one can do it without losing their voice. But real singing takes more talent.

And leave poor Tetsu out of this! ;_; He may sound like he's drowning, but he's got more emotion when he sings than both Gackt and Klaha combined!

As for the 'Kyo vs. Mana' thing, I have an interview with Dir en Grey in which they insult Gothic cultrure and dressing, and Lolita style. Kyo and Die both said outright they hated Goth, and thought it looked ugly. Especially the 'ribbons in their hair'.

fuck Dir en grey. the only thing they have going for them is kyo's voice. Mana is a much better composer then Kyo could ever hope to be.

I saw that posted on a Gothic Lolita forum and all the little Lolis, most of them ardent DEG fans, were getting very excited.

That interview annoyed me so much. -__- I was all excited for it because it's BBC, therfore dubbed in English, but it was just this 3 minute blurb with the narrator bitching at their statement they were just a rock band with, "oh yes, they're so NOT goth" just because the lyrics are gritty, and the otehr half was them poking fun at Lolitas. Who cares? o_0 I want to know about the music and the band for crying our loud, not an update on what fashion statement they never plan to make. Garg.

Well, Die said something about knowing that it doesn't go right for everybody. But I'm with navate; I wanted to know more about THEM and THEIR music, not their fashion opinions. I mean, it's amusing and interesting I guess, but not what I was expecting.

I remember one person pointed out that Kyo and Die were being so rude in that interview. I kept thinking, "well, duh, it's Kyo and Die."

i like how kyo's voiceover gives him a snotty, bitchy british accent making him sound like a complete idiot while he's really speaking calm and normal in japanese.

Kyo, Die, and Kaoru tend to be bitchy in interviews. Shinya tends to be nicer, but reserved. Toshiya is pretty sweet. Such is the current mood of Dir en grey. If you want them to be more cuddly and friendly like Mana or whoever, go back to the Missa days or something.

Well, I though it was funny what they said (because mean people are fun), and I wouldn't minded that as a little side comment during one an actual interview of proper length. But the fact that it comprised the entirety of what they talked about really was obnoxious.

And the dub voices were really...bad. And creepy, in some cases. Why couldn't they just subtitle it? o_0

i've seen that video god knows how many times now and still laugh at the dubbing.

As for my opinion on the band, all I can say is with Malice Mizer and then L'Arc~en~Ciel being my first two introductions to j-rock, Dir en Grey was not a good follow up >_<

But that was quite some time ago. I've since begun to pull myself out of that sheltered mind of mine, gone back and gotten over the screaming, realized I could ignore all the vomit, gore, and full frontal nudity by just not watching the videos, and yeah, I rather like them now ^^ (Actually they're about all I've been listening to in my car for the past several days...) Not totally into them though... yet, so no major strong opinions as of right now. Althoug being a ballet dancer, the Cage PV gives me nightmares.....

Eh... I guess it's hard to tell if you don't know the program and the person who presents it but it's actually aimed at making everyone and everything look stupid. They weren't in any way trying to conduct an in depth interview with anybody or use any kind of appropriate dubbing (most 'serious' programs in England subtitle, don't dub). The whole thing *is* about those crazy Japanese. Whether you choose to find that funny or not is a different matter...

Haha. That's like saying "fuck Moi Dix Mois. The only thing they have going for them is... Mana's guitar. Kaoru is a much better composer than Juka could ever hope to be."

Considering that Kyo doesn't compose 98% of Deg's music, your statement was ignorant and moronic.

And the BBS interview thingy just had Kyo and Die joking and laughing, saying the Lolita style doesn't look good on most girls, or that most girls looked ugly in Lolita - something like that. Certainly nothing to get upset over, which I actually have seen people do, VERY MUCH.

I love Deg <33
I've just waited to see how this thread progressed before adding anything--
They're about my second or third favorite band, and I like everything they've released except their first minialbum and The Final single(and that's because the songs are too slow ;) ).
CDJapan is making me pretty annoyed, cause they processed my order last week and still haven't sent my new Code of Vulgar[ism] tour DVD out yet ;___;

Anyway...

I don't mind the vomiting so much, I think Kyo started the vomiting trend a few years back o_o

I'm kind of worried about how he scratches though; while I can ignore it, it kind of... It upsets me a little... *sigh*
I hope he stops that soon.

The lives are fun to watch cause of the energy <333
I love watching Shinya play the drums, and Toshiya always looks funny, like he's acting all daring, while he plays his bass. It's really amusing. :D
I also like seeing what new faces Kaoru can come up with when he's trying to show off :P
