Do you think Asian men have been emasculated in the US?

So, I went with some friends to Oktoberfest over the weekend. While we were there a few girls came up to us and asked us if we'd take their picture. After I finished taking their picture they started talking to us. My friend from Malaysia told me that he found one of the girls attractive. The girl he found attractive was hitting on me, and I said "Hey, I'm taken, but my friends are both single." And she replied "Yeck, I don't date Asian guys, sorry. I don't want a penis this size [puts fingers up and measures about an inch]." Anyway, my friend didn't say anything, but I said "Maybe you just have a big vagina." Needless to say, I offended the girls and they surprisingly walked away.

Anyway, this got us discussing, why is it that women are not attracted to Asian guys in our society? Why is it that most guys do not find Asian men to be intimidating? What the fuck? I think Asian guys have a lot of style. I find Asian cultures to be extremely interesting, and I'm not some anime loving ginger kid with ninja scrolls on my wall. So, what the fuck Reddit, why are Asian men regarded this way? I know it's not universal, but it does seem to be pretty normal.

Yeah, white chicks in general aren't crazy about Asian dudes and I've never gotten it either - especially given how obsessed white guys are with Asian girls (mainly because so many Asian girls look and act like teenagers, I think).

Maybe it's because Asian guys are sort of small in frame (and therefore, not super-manly) and the little-weiner stereotype (which, based on my single experience with this, I'm willing to pronounce as true and brand an entire race as small-dicked freaks), as mentioned above, doesn't help.

i'm going to agree that its because asians as a population are indeed smaller than westerners. small is seen as a good trait in females, hence female asian popularity. however, it is not seen as a good trait in men. statistically speaking, women overwhelmingly prefer very tall men

I don't get it at all, I LOVE Asian guys. But I guess it's a matter of taste.
Also, from my experience the little-weiner stereotype is a load of bull. I have dated one guy, and had a fling with another, and they were both normal down there. (These were Japanese men though, don't know about guys in other Asian countries. xD)

I know more big asian guys than small ones, honestly. Some of them are overweight, some of them are ripped, but most of them aren't a whole lot shorter than me and I'm 6'2''. I think diet has a lot to do with size, so most Asian-Americans who eat out of the house aren't as likely to be "small" IMO.

Hell, this Chinese exchange student I roomed with for a while was almost as tall as me too. He was skinny, but he really wasn't small.

I was playing Uno with some friends the other night, and we were all getting loud and stupid, and this guy who was playing with us started to talk about how his Asian roommate walked around in briefs and had a non-existent package. But just last night this really athletic Asian dude who lives on my floor was going commando in a pair of sweatpants, and trust me--he wasn't small at all

Plus, there have been some well-documented studies of human penis size that find no statistically significant difference between any races. So the notion that Asian dudes are small (at least in that department) is kind of a myth.

People, especially women, got in a fucking tizzy over John Mayer saying he has a racist dick, but this demonstrates that women are definitely the most racially picky when it comes to finding a partner.

So those girls who made insulting comments to that dude's Asian friends don't have high standards and don't crave big dick like they act. They're just racist.

Also, I find it funny that the guy was offended at the way people act about Asian men but turns right around to hate on Gingers. Seriously?

There's no denying that people of Asian decent are built smaller in general than people of European decent. That may not be your experience, but statistically and evolutionarily, it's a fact. And the idea of masculinity is extremely important to most women in the US, especially recently. And Asian men just generally don't fit into western ideas of masculine (tall, hairy, etc).

You know what I think is actually a major yet little-known factor in their obsession? Most white guys seem utterly unable to judge attractiveness in Asian girls.

As for Asian men, I chalk up their difficulties to 3 equal parts:
1. The usual stereotypes
2. No marketing/role models in popular media
3. There just aren't as many of them around compared to other ethnic groups (at least here in the US) so it's seen as an "odd" choice (esp. given the previous 2 points)

This, too. Asians are an extremely under-represented group in north american media. (not as under-represented as Latinos, though. And Black people are technically over-represented, based on how many actual people of each group is in the country, there are far more Latinos than black people.)

This is some what of an inside joke amongst the cool kids clique with my WoW friends. Specifically with the Asian guys because there is an Asian girl in the guild that loves to photo bomb the forum because all the lonely nerdy white guys cream their pants over her. I think asian guys are so much more beatiful than western, they're faces are often extremly beautiful, and I love the asian eyes.

I'd like to see statistics that show most men of Asian descent (like Asian-Americans, for instance) are all 5'4'' and 90 lbs., because (in my experience) they're really not. Not even most of them. Not even half of them.

Every stereotype has a grain of truth to it, but I really think people are overgeneralizing a lot here and forget how much variety every race has. I know lots and lots of really short white and black kids, tall ones too; I know skinny, fat, and muscular kids of every race; I know tall asian kids, fat ones, muscular ones, and, yes, short ones; and of course there's the middle-of-the-packers. I've never had the impression that Asian men are much smaller than any other race. I think the OKTrends link I posted above should shed waaaay more light on why women aren't attracted to Asians than the verbal reasons they give.

The height in Asian countries isn't wildly shorter than the European countries, but they do appear to be somewhat shorter.

Now, I know we are talking more race, rather than country, and obviously culture has a lot to do with weight in other countries, but look at how the only Asian countries on the weight chart are at the very bottom. Obviously you'll always have outliers in statistics, but we're talking averages here.

I'm sure in this country though, they tend to be just as fat as any other race.


And I was joking about making a judgment about penis size based on my one experience. The joke being that that would be a ridiculous thing to conclude based on such a small (heh) sampling.

My boyfriend has never dated anyone that was Chinese and for the most part his parents disapproved of all his relationships. (now if you're a doctor or a lawyer or something with a six figure income they won't care where you're from (I'm fucked)).
