But I'll just put the Exist Trace parts in here.
"First I'll get the (yet another) disappointment out of the way: I was NOT able to obtain a face-to-face meeting with Miko, but it wasn't a total bust, I suppose.
Last time I had seen Vagu Project, Yui knew how much I liked Miko and offered to transmit a message for me. I was put on the spot, but I told him, "oh, um; just tell her that I appreciated her noticing me last time I saw them, and please ganbatte kudasai." I hoped he'd remember, of course, but I didn't expect him to.
Cut to last night. Yui comes out before all the sets and tells me, "hey, I told her your message. She says 'thanks a lot', and that she'll be looking out for you." And he looked pleased with himself. How cool of him.
So I was watching e+t's set, and naturally I was as close to her as I could be, which, given the lack of people last night, was right up front. I'll save details for the actual concert review, but I had her attention for the duration of the performance, which was exhilarating.
After Vagu Project's set, Yui came running up to me and said, "she said she saw you right in front of you, and thanks for being a fun fan." Which I thought was funny; all I did was casually lean on the front bar and smile at her.
Throughout the rest of the evening, Yui was running back and forth from the main hall to the offices (of course, only bands have re-entry privileges) giving me updates on whether she would come out or not. She had already changed and washed off her makeup pretty early, and Yui's reports were growing more grim; he seemed really disappointed in himself and I felt guilty.
He was about to ask her, finally, outright, to come see me, but he came down and said, shaking, that he couldn't find her anymore. I thanked Yui for all his hard work (he really didn't have to, and he was mostly doing it independent of any request from me; he was just being nice), and started to leave. I got to the corner of the alley, and a white van drove by; a band had packed up early and was leaving. It was Exist Trace in their civvies (they look much more feminine out of costume, interestingly); Miko leaned over the passenger seat out the window, shouted "Jimi!" and waved at me. I waved back, and then they were off.
It was all right. I'm done, though. Celebrity crushes with meeting potential aren't very fun, I'm learning.
...
The set included "water" (my personal favorite), "mabushii hodo", "Judea", "Venom", and I THINK "Sacrifice Baby", which also ain't a bad song.
Jyo is really coming into her own; her vocal performance gets better and better. She's also pretty attractive in person; she's very good at making eye contact with as many people as possible for as long as possible. That scream going into the bridge in "Judea", the only part of the song I like, was just SO intense. She will grab the hand of someone in the front line and hold on for a good 30 seconds; that must be cool. Mally is a solid drummer, and I'm always impressed with non-crappy double-bass work. She's very strong.
But Miko, ah, Miko. The way she gets into her performance, it looks like she's going to trip and fall over or headbang once too hard and just pitch forward. When she looked at me and smiled, it's just so adorable. I also like that she smiles; the others are too into their characters or the mood, I guess. She's got a great body and I wish she didn't hide it behind a sorta poofy skirt. She looks really weird when she's doing the backup vocals, though; it makes her overbite more pronounced. Ah well; it all adds to her charm.
My favorite moments were the ones in which they broke character. Exist Trace puts on a solid, extremely tight performance and I want to say that part of it is the fact that they're all girls, but that'd be sexist. It's very classy; hard to describe. Anyway, there would be moments where Naoto would look utterly lost, or Miko, Omi, and Jyo would do a cool side-by-side thing, and Jyo would grab a shoulder or something. There was one point where Miko said something to Omi, and Omi cracked up and smacked Miko on the head. Poor little boke.
Their one weakness? No MC. Or at least as little as possible. There was no mention of anything new coming up, which simply means they're in live and promotion mode. Their live schedule doesn't look to be TOO rigorous, but they're playing in Shizuoka and Nagoya this month and that's a lot of travel... but who knows. To me, they're not playing nearly enough. Especially in Saitama."
