I am intrigued, but I've never been a big fan of D, so I'm not so sure I'll like this. But it's awesome that somebody is releasing a MM-cover!

lol why not say they're just fan? You must be aware of the fact that fangirl is often use as a negative thing on this forum no?

She already said she didn't mean anything by it though. ^_^

I do not like D. And I assume they'll turn cute Gekka into something rocky.... it will be a bit fun to hear, but if it'll turn out very bad, it will probably just piss me off.
But as Camuflagem said, no one force us to hear it.
I wonder why D picked Gekka though....

Gekka is a fan favourite in Japan. They could've picked other popular songs like Ma Cherie and Au Revoir as well, but.. that would've been even worse, I think. ::erm::

I know! At least for me, that's one of my least liked MM songs. (That's being too kind, I like it 0% TBH.. except the music video is pretty k00L)

I hope D can put an interesting spin on this song =) I'm going to keep positive and hope they will! It's just a thing of personal taste for everyone, I guess.
Seeing other bands cover songs of bands from the 90s that I love is pretty interesting. I really want to see how the others do on the songs they are covering!

I don't even like the video.

As much as I dislike Gekka, it's still better than Ju te veux at least.

It's funny how much I dislike everything Kozi wrote on that album other than Illuminati, given my love of his solo work.

I don't see what the big deal is about this cover. Even if it turns out lame, I think it's good that Malice Mizer will be getting some free publicity out of it.

Gekka is one of my favorite MM songs, oh man. Iska you have no heart ::meev::

I don't get what the big deal is either. I'm actually kind of excited to see what they'll make out of this kooky song.

I can see why a band would want to cover Gekka. From a musician's standpoint, songs that aren't fun to listen to can still be fun to play, and I think Gekka would be fun to play.

I don't hate it as a song, but it's definitely not the first example I would show someone if I wanted them to like Malice Mizer. Still, maybe D will make it cool. I think D is a solid band.

*shrug* Guess we'll have to wait and see! ::gaku::

You folks are crazy. Gekka is a amazing song and it deserves your reverence. ::hora::

It's fun to dance to, and it represents a whimsicality that I really loved about Malice Mizer's faggier affairs.

Also, covers don't take anything away from the original, so I don't know why anyone is upset about it.

I know what you mean. Bel Air, for instance, is super fun to play, but I really don't like listening to it. It's just curious that of all possible MM songs to cover it would be Gekka. I guess it's not that crazy since merveilles is their most popular album, but it's disappointing from the standpoint of someone who knows the entire discography. Why would they choose a MM song no one has ever heard (xcept 4 us super MM fanz) Basically, it's a WTF moment for me on song choice, not EW IM NOT GONNA LISTEN TO THIS SHIT. I look forward to hearing it but like hell am I going to pay for it lmao

^I disagree, It's one of their most well known songs, it was a single during their time on a major label.

What I meant was it makes more sense for Gekka than a song from another album.

Don't have any particular strong feelings about this. It's been too long since I've listened to any MM and the stuff I listen from D is when they were pre-major. I might check it out, but I'll just forget when it comes around probably.

I'm actually ::erm:: and :| about 12012/GLAY and Duel Jewel/BT more than anything on that list.

I think this is awesome! I definitely agree that it's very cool to see a current VK band cover the work of the VK masters themselves, MALICE MIZER.

Although personally I find the work of D to be somewhat bland and uninspired (at least from what I remember, I haven't given them a listen since Tafel Anatomie), I'm very much looking forward to how the piece will turn out. Hopefully this inspires other J-Artists to cover more of MALICE MIZER's work in the future.
