Last I checked there was a detailed summary on wikipedia...I didn't read it though so I don't know if it's any good.

Oh yeah, and when Dobby died, I cried XP That was the only time.

I just finished it, too~

So far, it's only taken me two days or less to read each book a piece. ::meev:: I wanted to keep up my record for this one, too.... XD

It was very good. It got even better once the battle started. I think the fifth book is still my favorite, though, since I really like the faster pace of everything.

Spoilers (not like it matters, though, since this thread is full of them, and amatsu, just read the book yourself. ::bleh:: ) :

I was none too please to have tonks and lupin die- it was just james and lily all over again except they stood a fighting chance. XD But I'm glad their kid still wound up happy in the end. They never did tell us if he turned out to be a werewolf or not... o.o

The only time I cried was when Harry was, literally, walking to his death. It freaked me out, and I thought it was insanely unfair at the time, but I was tremendously relieved to hear from dumbledore again. : D And oh the loop holes this woman's made to keep him alive. XD It's like watching Xena all over again. *meev*

I just finished the book, literally, 10 minutes ago. If I think of anything else particularly shocking, I'll come back and say something. XD As for the kids' names, I don't think there's anything silly about it. In an odd way, it really fits, I think. :)

edit: I REMEMBER SOMETHING SKETCHY!!!! >.< If Harry's parents died in 1981, that means harry was born in 1980, thus making the year that all this mess happens in 1997. W.T.H. :| Yes, that's the year the first book came out, but it just makes me confuuuuused to think that none of it's present day. ::weepy:: I'll be interested in hearing what Ms. Rowling has to say about the funny dates, because surely someone's going to bring it up...

^ He already said "slightly interested". I don't think anyone who isn't a big HP fan really wants to read the whole book just to go "Oh, that's cool/stupid/ridiculous". You know?

Anyway, I don't doubt the link I'm about to post, mainly for the reason that people are completely crazy like this. I personally think it's completely stupid and I have no sympathy for someone who does this over a book.

I went to see the movie today. For the most part it was cool, but I didn't like some of the cuts they made. For example, cutting down Mrs. Dursley's role to a moment where she has a look of abject terror on her face; completely skipping the visit to the Hospital, where Harry was supposed to learn about the Longbottom's; The centaur as the new whatsitcalled (precognition class?) teacher; And finally, how they downplayed the impact of Sirius' death on Harry.

There were some amazing action scenes, however.

Ah well. It was a long book, after all. I could go on for a long time comparing the two and nitpicking. But in the end there's only so much you can fit in one movie.

... Or is there? Personally, I think that Hollywood could churn out a 5 hour long movie (shown back to back as a"double feature") with a 15 minute intermission in between. Not necessarily Harry Potter... but the LOTR movies would have worked that way.

Anyways, I don't know if I'll ever read book 6 and 7. Maybe after the movies come out?

I'm not a huge fan and I read it just to find out what would happen in the end- I don't think it's a big deal to just pick the darn thing up yourself and find out instead of having someone else write it all out for you 'cause you're too lazy to make an effort. :P

As for the silly girl, she obviously had no life outside of the series, so it's regrettable on all accounts- her obsession, being gullible, and taking it all so seriously. I wonder how old she was? :/

I admire your misanthropy, but I'm putting this fable into my suspense account until Snopes does the leg work on it.

I think it's fair to say here that the person being lazy is the person who doesn't want to type up a brief summary of a 800+ page book to someone who's not that interested and just wants to hear the gist of it. o__O

I didn't ask anyone to "write it all out for me..."

I just finished the book, and I believe that the Prince, Remus and Tonks did not deserve such easy, boring deaths. Also.. What was it that Petunia owes to Dumbledore? That he replied to her letter..? Oh wow.

I'm on Chapter 6. And the mass killing has already begun. Seems like the Corpse Eaters don't waste their time ! :D

I cried so much D: Not because it was very sad (ok it was) but mostly because hp is over now ;____,''''

And about the funny dates, we already know that the second book was in 1992 so why does it come as a surprise that Harrys born in 1980, Kyu?

Dobbys death was the worst. And I thought Luna had died for a while, which was not funny at all.

I've been ranting so much about this book to my friends, parents and on the internet that I don't know what to write anymore xP

It was good. Some things were a bit tacky (Albus Severus for example) some things weren't what I thought they'd be (the final battle), and, most importantly, Harry was a Horcrux. But it was in a good way.

I was really surprised about Snape. I wasn't expecting that at all. I had to fight running downstairs and bawling into my sister's lap. It was sad. I don't really have much more to say since I read it too fast to retain everything.

It was a good one. My favorite
It's my favourite book in the series too now. It's so funny how most people are raging online about the epilogue. For the record, I'm not too fond of it, and I actively dislike Albert Severus but I think it's a nice ending. As someone on LJ said, it shows that the wizarding world went back to the happy place it was in the first book because the style of writing is the same.

I didn't think Harry would be a Horcrux because it was so obvious but it tied things up in the end.

I didn't like Snape's death either but at least it showed the ruthlessness of Voldemort, destroying even people who have served him so much.

I was very much expecting Snape pulling something like that! =D I was so happy when I read it! Albus Severus was indeed tacky xD
oh wow I cried so much o__o; Specially about Tonks and Lupin and Fred... I was so shocked! What the f- got into J.K. in this one? What's with so many people dying at once? They've had battles in the other books and only one or maybe two people died -___-

Bah. I've read it too fast .__. Now it's over and it was the last one.
To be honest, I'm suprised more people didn't die. It was the last battle, it was war and very few people the readers cared about actually died. I was expecting more. Tonks and Lupin's death I really disliked because it was so brutal and quick and off-camera (and they left poor Teddy! ::weepy:: ) but it just shows the brutality of war I think.

As for the OotP movie, I think it was great. :) I've already seen it twice. Luna is awesome- and you can tell that the actors who are fans of the books play it so much better because they actually know the characters and "want to do them justice" as the actress playing Luna said. Sirius was great, and his death was so sad. ::weepy::
I have no idea how they're going to make the 7th one into a movie though! Although the scene where Hagrid carries Harry out of the Forbidden Forest at the end when they think he's dead and the two sides face each other at the gates of Hogwarts will be amazing on screen- I'll be astounded if they don't put it in.

Because I, myself, was 11 or 12 at the time when I started reading them and I didn't notice it at all. XD When you read contemporary books like this, your mind sort of automatically assumes it's all happening right now, at the very second your reading it. So when it later dawns on you that it's all in the past, you suddenly feel helpless about the story line. :/ Granted, of course, you can't do anything about it anyway, but readers do tend to get into their stories and feel apart of them. XD I guess my own imagination's to blame at this point. ::meev::

I call laziness/unnecessary drama llama from the people who won't write down "Lots of people such as Dobby, Snape, Fred, etc etc etc died. Harry dies but gets rezzed via Horcrux and then Voldemort bites it and there's a 19 years later deal where Harry marries Ginny and has 3 kids and Ron and What's-her-name get together".

There dammit. -_-

I can't say much except: Why can't I speak/read English fluently? ::weepy::

I have to wait till 27th October for the German version >_<

Only because I am afraid of me not being able to read the book in English T_T

*sigh* U_U
