I just came back from Kaya's signing event at Like an Edison.

The man is ADORABLE beyond words and the most natural, girly gay I've ever seen. I don't feel like writing much, but some things need to be said.

1) Kaya was so nervous. The event was delayed because he was't ready and when he finally came in, he had to move past everyone along the side of the Like an Edison store to get to the little chair and table on the mini stage. He was walking with his head down, his hands by his mouth (but not touching, just holding them up in the most girliest of manners) and they were SHIVERING. His hands were shaking as he was walking! I felt so sorry for him. We got covered in his parfume by this point and it didn't go away for the rest of the event.

2) Once he got up there, he seemed okay, but he still had that shy laugh and quiet voice when he was asked questions. In fact, he was so shy, he didn't dare to look at the audience much, except when he was directly talking to them. Else, he just looked at the girl that interviewed him. The first thing he said to us was "Can everyone hear me? Daijobou?" and yes, we could, though of course with his single playing in the background, hearing him was a different thing from understanding him. The mike was crappy, too and Kaya has this really light, faint, shy voice... so we didn't hear too much.

3) We all had to hand in questions and they chose a couple. They had mine, but the lady saw it, laughed and put it away. I guess she couldn't read it or so (I asked whom he'd like to work with) - our Japanese is probably not easy to dechiffer. She actually got my friend's question next, but she rephrased it or so. Among other things, my friend had asked what kind of movies he likes and it seemed the answer was he likes sad movies? And he also mentioned some type of movie he doesn't like at all.

4) Kaya was asked whether he likes PANTS. Apparantly he wore pants for one of his song's performances. Kaya's answer: "I like all pretty things. Pants can be pretty. But I don't like jeans." Something like that.

5) Kaya mentioned something about working with Kamijo and also mentioned his upcoming live with the band Sugar. Kaya actually made lots of little jokes that made people laugh and stuff. He once asked whether we could see his underwear (O_o);; I guess because his skirt was so... short. And he was sitting. He was also plucking on his costumes and his hair the entire time, sniffing and coughing (to the point where we thought he might have caught a cold) - he sniffs at lives too and coughs a little, but this was the supressed, angry little cough.

6) Kaya was asked why he binds his corset at the front (as in - like whores would do back in the day) and not like a man in the back (or so). Kaya's reply: "I am a Japanese woman."

7) So, when I went up to him to get my copy of Glitter signed, this happened.
Line: *walks up, INTIMIDATED* ... I'm embarassed.
Kaya: *slightly pitiful look* Oh...
Line: *shoves CD at him*
Kaya: *chooses a black pen out of his choices ((silver, black and white)) and signs the booklet carefully, then takes it it both gloved hands and like a business card, lays it carefully into Line's hands*
Line: Last month's rock show was really cool.
Kaya: Thank you. *smile*
Line: *wants to burst from the cute*
Kaya: *grabs Line's hands, both of them, and holds them lightly between his, like he did with everyone (he even called them back if they forgot)
Line: *stare, melt*
Kaya: (^__^)
Line: Thank you very much. *walks back to the door and skips out quickly with a SQUEE*

I can't even begin to say how FRICKIN ADORABLE KAYA is. You have to see that in reality. .. he's ... like a little girl. Only cuter. He wears too much make up, but DAMN. So sweet. So pretty. SO DAMN CUTE. I want a Kaya pet for my home, now.

oh my *faints*. I just imagined every scene one by one. I swear I'm going to Japan T_T.

I can see why cameras and stuffed are forbidden. Since They do that for every artist I don't know why), I can see why particulary Kaya doesn't allow. He's so shy and he would faint if he sees some camera pointing him.

Anyway, tell us more!!!! how was his parfume?!!, what kind of clothes was he wearing (because u said his skirt was so short). every detail!!.

I'm curious, what was the general ratio of age and gender of the people there? I imagine mainly teenage girls?

Sounds like a interesting event, I have to get myself to one of these one day.

Oh yes, more details. ... I don't remember too much, unfortunately. His parfume was ... I don't know. Parfume. It wasn't particularly flowery, more manly-fresh, which surprised me.

He was wearing dark tights with fishnet over them, even though it wasn't fishnet but a pattern of something... flowers? I don't remember. I felt bad staring at his pretty (THIN) legs. Else, he was wearing a costume that reminded me of the one he had on stage when performing with Juka, Kamijo and Hizaki... it was a short skirt with black and red ... ah, what's it called - tulle? The material petticoats are made of, you know? He had a black corset with red elements on it, bound at the front over a black top that was like a Kimono. That is, the top was black and folded over like a bathing robe/kimono and then it had the long Kimono sleeves that were bright red with a flower pattern. Very, Very cute. In the back, he had the pillow-binding thing going on (or more of a loop without a pillow) that you'd find on a kimono. I forgot to check out how that correlated with the corset. He was wearing a wig with a traditional Japanese hairdo in black which also had that weird loop in it (but it looked good) and a huge bowtie in the color of his sleeves (red = flower pattern). The wig ended in a little ponytail that had several rubber bands in it, parting it in different sections (if that makes any sense). Else, he had hair down his side, though his ear was revealed and he kept tugging and positioning them all the time (much like his skirt and his sleeves). While the strands at the side he was tugging on didn't need any adjustment whatsoever, my friend kept talking about wanting to teach the guy how to use a wig (she's good with wig) because you could see his real hair at some places. Of course he was wearing gloves, long black ones. Oh... and the end of the sleeves and the seams of the kimono-jacket all had red tulle on them. The sleeves kept sliding up because they were looselike on a kimono, ne? So you could see his long thing arms and realize that his gloves must be ending somewhere above his elbow... or so. They must have been really long.

Kaya held the microphone with the tip of his fingers, which was kind of cute. He often used both hands to hold it and he was nodding a lot. He would occassionally say something, sounding kind of embarassed (but he always kind of does) and the audience would break out in laughter (I wished I could understand him, really!).

He kept turning his head away to drink some water from a small bottle with a pink straw. He hid behind his hair, so we couldn't see him suck. So sweet. And he attempted to cover his smiles with his gloved hands, but he forgot half the time, which makes it all the more cute. And he has such a sweet smile, so that's a good thing. Occassionally he would smile at us. I think when he tries to cover the smile, it's an embarassed one and unlike Mana's gestures, his are very natural (which is not supposed to degrade Mana in any possible way. People who know me know I love Mana to death!)

On the issue of him being sick... from what my friend said about his live and what I saw at the Rock Musical he performed in with Kamijo, Hizaki and Juka, he always sniffs and coughs a little (does anyone know whether he's smoking???). And he twitches his face which we assume is the bad correlation of having an itch and lots of make up? Though he managed to get a little nose-scratch in while he was fumbling with his hair agan. He turned away when he was coughing, but a couple of times he forgot that sniffing x microphone doesn't work TOO well. XD He sniffled right into the microphone. XD

VERY often, Kaya would ask "who asked this question" (once, it was the girl next to me) and he would throw something in that was directed at that person. His favorite food involves something with makarel(?) and he turned to us with that HUGE smile and was like "Do you like it???" It was heart-meltingly sweet.

@Sandmann: As for the audience - we were sitting at the very end on the floor, so mostly I got the backs of people's heads. I think except for the Swedish guy we met and went out to eat with afterwards and some guy in the back that MIGHT have been some sort of official, I only saw one guy there. I know there was an older woman (30?) somewhere before me and for the rest - hell, I can never tell with Japanese people whether they are teenagers or in their twenties. I fail you on that one. I'd say they were my age, but SERIOUSLY, I fail.
---

On a side note - Kaya's make up looked very smooth from afar, but it didn't hold that impression up close. You could tell his skin isn't the smoothest or the layers just aren't even or something like that. I've seen this before on Mana in Germany but since I have never applied so much make up, I don't know what causes this (Mana looked very smooth in France a year before that, though). Other than that, Kaya has very bright eyes (not in color, but you know... they have that very positive shine to them). And he looked at everyone he was talking to when taking their hands and talking to them.

He also got a BUNCH of presents. They had three boxes for presents on the stage and they got filled up very quickly. He got roses and some bags (pink bags, too). It seemed the Japanese were always telling him what is inside and he listened and thanked them and then put the present into the box. By the time we got up there, the boxes were almost full, but there were still some people behind us.

I wonder whether I was the only one who was having him sign Glitter. Most were having him sign the inside of his single - you know, the part you get to when you take out the CD and the plastic that holds the CD. That part. I had him sign the cover of Glitter and our new Swedish friend went for the cover of the single. Some girl had a polaroid of him and herself, so he signed that. He had three pens, silver, black and white and generally used the silver for his Oka Ryoran and the black for mine. Someone had him sign the inlay of Glitter which has him in a black outfit. He used the white pen for that.

As for his antics - he's so very natural, it's nice. He's strange and cute and girly, but it's all very natural. He's also sending out a very positive vibe, if that makes any sense.

Ah yes, there's another detail! Kaya did not have time to go Sakura viewing! He seems to love it, so I found that particularly sad. It seems he was to busy, but I don't know the exact reason. The best viewing times for Sakura have been over since the day before his event, so that's sad. However, the Sakura are still pretty (unlike the weather, which is fluctuating), so I hope he gets a chance.

As a last note, I rest you assured that MOST of the event, Kaya spent his time being happy and smiling.

@Lardeen + LucifersBride: Ich haette gerne einen ganzen Flieger voller Leute mitgenommen! XD Ihr haettet auch einsteigen duerfen!!!

EDIT: And I forgot to mention. At some point during the beginning of the signing, Kaya was suddenly gone. We just heard a *CLONK* backstage. I have no idea what happened and I didn't see him leave, either. But that was kind of strange.

Kaya doesn't smoke he mentioned it in an interview, which faith translated. He hates smoking XD
But he seems to fetch colds often.

And for the make up: when I cosplay Mana I have normally 3 layers of make up: foundation, white make up to make it brighter and than powder. When I try to smile it gets rents (Risse). From far away it looks smooth but when you get closer you see pimples and so on x_X"

Perhaps just lack of time or sleep? Mana's skin and makeup looked very smooth at Japan Expo and the meet & greet in Paris last year but at the meet & greet in Munich you mention he'd come straight off the plane from Japan and only went to the hotel to change, so he probably applied his makeup in a hurry or the exhaustion was shining through.

Yeah, I think so. I didn't mean to talk bad about either Kaya or Mana. Hell knows I can't do make up right myself. And yeah, at Japan Expo, Mana looked AMAZING. He barely wore any foundation to begin with, it seemed.
