I just came back from Kaya's signing event at Like an Edison.
The man is ADORABLE beyond words and the most natural, girly gay I've ever seen. I don't feel like writing much, but some things need to be said.
1) Kaya was so nervous. The event was delayed because he was't ready and when he finally came in, he had to move past everyone along the side of the Like an Edison store to get to the little chair and table on the mini stage. He was walking with his head down, his hands by his mouth (but not touching, just holding them up in the most girliest of manners) and they were SHIVERING. His hands were shaking as he was walking! I felt so sorry for him. We got covered in his parfume by this point and it didn't go away for the rest of the event.
2) Once he got up there, he seemed okay, but he still had that shy laugh and quiet voice when he was asked questions. In fact, he was so shy, he didn't dare to look at the audience much, except when he was directly talking to them. Else, he just looked at the girl that interviewed him. The first thing he said to us was "Can everyone hear me? Daijobou?" and yes, we could, though of course with his single playing in the background, hearing him was a different thing from understanding him. The mike was crappy, too and Kaya has this really light, faint, shy voice... so we didn't hear too much.
3) We all had to hand in questions and they chose a couple. They had mine, but the lady saw it, laughed and put it away. I guess she couldn't read it or so (I asked whom he'd like to work with) - our Japanese is probably not easy to dechiffer. She actually got my friend's question next, but she rephrased it or so. Among other things, my friend had asked what kind of movies he likes and it seemed the answer was he likes sad movies? And he also mentioned some type of movie he doesn't like at all.
4) Kaya was asked whether he likes PANTS. Apparantly he wore pants for one of his song's performances. Kaya's answer: "I like all pretty things. Pants can be pretty. But I don't like jeans." Something like that.
5) Kaya mentioned something about working with Kamijo and also mentioned his upcoming live with the band Sugar. Kaya actually made lots of little jokes that made people laugh and stuff. He once asked whether we could see his underwear (O_o);; I guess because his skirt was so... short. And he was sitting. He was also plucking on his costumes and his hair the entire time, sniffing and coughing (to the point where we thought he might have caught a cold) - he sniffs at lives too and coughs a little, but this was the supressed, angry little cough.
6) Kaya was asked why he binds his corset at the front (as in - like whores would do back in the day) and not like a man in the back (or so). Kaya's reply: "I am a Japanese woman."
7) So, when I went up to him to get my copy of Glitter signed, this happened.
Line: *walks up, INTIMIDATED* ... I'm embarassed.
Kaya: *slightly pitiful look* Oh...
Line: *shoves CD at him*
Kaya: *chooses a black pen out of his choices ((silver, black and white)) and signs the booklet carefully, then takes it it both gloved hands and like a business card, lays it carefully into Line's hands*
Line: Last month's rock show was really cool.
Kaya: Thank you. *smile*
Line: *wants to burst from the cute*
Kaya: *grabs Line's hands, both of them, and holds them lightly between his, like he did with everyone (he even called them back if they forgot)
Line: *stare, melt*
Kaya: (^__^)
Line: Thank you very much. *walks back to the door and skips out quickly with a SQUEE*
I can't even begin to say how FRICKIN ADORABLE KAYA is. You have to see that in reality. .. he's ... like a little girl. Only cuter. He wears too much make up, but DAMN. So sweet. So pretty. SO DAMN CUTE. I want a Kaya pet for my home, now.
