I've never comprehended why some male artists choose to do that. I do think it's admirable in it's own way, though. It makes you think how if a normal man (taking Mana for an example, he actually has a particularly masculine face/body) can make himself look like a very feminine, pretty girl with only makeup, why on Earth is anyone going through plastic surgery? If a full-grown and particularly masculine man can make himself look like a pretty girl, then imagine how pretty a slightly homely woman could make herself. People need to take makeup lessons instead of running for the surgeon's knife.

the Seth is Seiji conspiracy

I've been researching that matter in some japanese sites, and it seems that, for them, it's already a well known obvious fact.
It's even clearly written in the VKDB entry for Moi dix Mois and Seiji.

I remember a girl posted a live report here saying that when she talked with concertgoers in Japan about it, it was like starting a rumor to suggest that Seth might not be Seiji.

Yet Mana has never officially announced that Seth is Seiji so... I'm never the one to say he is unless it is said officially.

I won't believe Seth is Seiji until it's officially announced or there is something that absolutely proves he is Seiji (such as tattoos )

Anyway, I love his clothing style in the first pic, but that cigarette... filthy, bad cigarette. *steals* *put it out* *grr* I haven't thought about Juka smoking...*sigh* Hair is short, don't know if I should like or dislike that, let's wait till we have the chance to see his face so we can tell if it suits him or not, and it's black again. What is good in my opinion. The blonde was scary. Oo And his legs look so slim in the leather pants. O.O But it's sexy...

The impression I get is that no Japanese would ever mistake Mana or other VK people for a genuine female. That seems to be purely a Western notion. Compare to an actual female in VK-ish makeup:
