Amasanin, is it alright if I advertise this on my site once you find a person to compile the package?
Yes of course. And you can start now too if you want just to see how many people are interested. I figure the address should at least be valid till the end of the year right? So if we set a date for stuff to be sent by say December 10 I think he might get the package for christmas. Or maybe sooner? End of November?

Arison looks like you're the only volunteer... so it's also up to you in case you might be too busy during a specific time. And it also depends on how long you think it'll take you to put the stuff together and send them off.

For anyone considering being the collector:

Rememeber to keep in mind or set guidelines as to what you are going to be sending him. I know most things won't be crazy, but if someone actually wanted to send a stuffed animal or the chicken soup or red bulls (lol), well, the shipping price to Japan for that package (espcially to get there in any reasonable amount of time and you might want to consider the mail runs slower around the holidays for that matter) could be quite high. Or make a note to anyone sending bigger stuff other than drawings or letters or things small like that to include a small donation for shipping cost (unless of course you wanted to cover that as well).

There are other guidelines that should be set, of course, I am just throwing things out to think about before you volunteer.

LejuN does have a point, yes. :/ I'd be willing to accept one or two things like a stuffed animal, but if everyone is going to send him one (which I doubt), then it would be harder to send it. And there's cost of shipping, too.

As for being busy, the weekend of December 12 I have a figure skating competetion with my team, and the week after have exams for school, so I'd have to get everything by the 4/5 at the latest. That's a month for everyone to get things together and send them to me, and I'll be able to send it off the week after. From my experience with shipping to Japan, it takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the package, what kind of shipping, ect.

I can think of a million other things to list, like how we want to sign it, but I'll leave that for later...

Now, I just need to let my parents know about this, so they won't freak if packages start arriving. c-c;

Maybe it might be better having someone in America send it because there are still backups at Customs (all locations in Canada), Canada Post's rates are very expensive and not economical to send overseas, and people from America (most) who will send the items to you will have to pay more for shipping costs to Canada.

So maybe its best if someone really responsible take it over in the US.

Oops >>;; I didn't even notice that Arison lived in Canada. Shipping things to Canada seems to be a scary thing right now. Gensou has a good point o-o;

If you don't mind me asking, but what's scary about sending things to Canada? o_o I doubt it would make much of a difference in prices whether it was sent to Canada or the US.

And excuse me, but I have never had any economical problems with sending anything overseas, so I don't really see where Gensou got that from. I hardly see Canada Post rates as high, also. >>

From my experience, even sending something as small as a CD or a magazine to Canada from Chicago has been a problem. Sometimes customs, for no reason at all, would hold the package for weeks. And no one knew where it was until they got the package that had the customs stuff all over it.

And wasn't there or isn't there some kind of postal strike going on? Is it still happening?

I don't know if this would apply to anything anyone plans to send you, but it is something to consider.

Just trying to make sure this runs as smoothly as possible if indeed you are being serious about it. There is about a month to go if people are to meet your time requirments and that is cutting it close for someone who wanted to take time to make something and send it (and hopes it gets to you in a timely speed).

Whatever the case, if you have considered all possibilites, you should get your guidelines down and announced so it can be promoted properly o-o/

The worst part of it all is they make you pay 20 bucks for opening and rummaging through the package and retaping it up. >_>

$20? You got off with your life.....and a torn out page with the box cut from the bottom.

I heard there are over 150,000 packages that are just sitting there because of minimal staff to do the nasty work.

Arison: Have you ever sent a photobook overseas? Try paying $43 for Airmail for a book, which makes you have to send it by SAL which will also cost about $15 and can take up to 2-6 weeks. We thank you for the offer, but it's just the wrong time (Customs strike/problem + Cryptogrma not being able to accept packages (maybe) soon). The offer was great tho. ;)

I think if someone's gonna volunteer to gather all the stuff, we should at least give him/her a certain amount for the shipping. It'll depend, of course, on what you're gonna send to Klaha. You have to register the envelope though, so the money won't get lost.

It just feels wrong to abuse a person with a good heart. Shipping fees are nasty.

Just my opinion. :)

Nobody's abusing anyone. Goes without saying that some small amount will be sent (even $1 from everyone might be ok, depending on how many people there are). I think LejuN was just saying that if someone wants to send something heavier they should send in a bit more money.

Wow...

Hope you get better soon, Klaha. <3

I'd volunteer to recive/send the stuff, but I don't trust me and neither should all of you. :p (I'm a lazy sob.:()

Just for info, has anyone even emailed Klahainfo to ask if/when they'll close the address? I could send an email and wait for a reply if no one wants to because they've sent emails to me before about the Klaha order situation.

I emailed them earlier today because I also wanted to make sure if sending a bigger package to that address was ok. I emailed the in English though. They have replied to me in English before, but that was when the old website was up, so I hope there's still someone there who can read it and reply. Did you email them in English recently?

I highly doubt anyone there can understand English (still, since the staff might be soon be paired down slowly). It takes about 2 weeks for a Japanese email to arrive, so I really don't know. I can always try? Should I ask in general if they'll wait to accept a large fan package from many special overseas fans?

Feel free. I asked for how much longer the Cryptogram mail address to Klaha will be valid and if it is ok to send larger packages because overeas fans were thinking of sending him something all together.

It takes about 2 weeks for a Japanese email to arrive, so I really don't know.
Hmm? My friends in Japan always get my emails instantly. And like I said Klahainfo has replied to me in fluent English before and very quickly, but that was when it was still called Klahainfo...

EDIT: Oh and no o_o; don't tell them to wait for us specifically.
