I think Gackt was, actually. But it's hard to compare the two since Mana's never worked with a female vocalist before.Berserk wrote:She's easily the most skilled singer Mana has worked with
I fail miserably at playing instruments too, just because I just don't have the patience and diligence to do that. I'd be excited about learning, buy a top quality instrument, and then a week later get too lazy to bother anymore. I've already failed the piano, so I figure I shouldn't get a violin.Han'i wrote:I love cellos, and violins. But I've never played, probably because I would end up hating them... the last instrument that I played was.... Uh, I think it was the clarinete. I failed miserable though.

Lol, I forgot about Gackt... Yeah, I'd say Gackt is in the same league as Kanon. Besides him though, she's definitely at the top of Mana's list.Red Scarf wrote:I think Gackt was, actually.Berserk wrote:She's easily the most skilled singer Mana has worked with
Shostakovich makes the cello such a passionate, vivid instrument--he's really an awesome composer (which is why I picked one of his works as an example).Priss wrote:Thanks for posting that video! <3
That's one of my favorite Shostakovich arrangements. It has such hauntingly beautiful melodies. My absolute favorite of his work has to be the 1st movement of Op. 40 for Cello and Piano. I die every time.
edit: Just listen to it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9etnD-H ... re=related It's so gorgeous.
That's really exactly how I felt. After listening a few times, I don't think it sounds so bad; but it should sound good the first time. The first time I listened to it I was like "what? No, not like that!"Lardeen wrote:Agreed.Berserk wrote:The solo in the middle of the song, though everyone seems to love it, is kind of awkward and demonstrates that he doesn't quite know how to compose for the cello.
As it started I imagined how it would go on and I really liked my idea, but not so much his. Somehow I expected more of that.
Well, I'm talking about technical skill. I like the color of Klaha's voice more than Gackt's, but he doesn't have as much control and nuance as Gackt does; so even though I like Klaha more, I would have to give the prize over to Gackt anyway.Amatsu wrote:idk, klaha had some intense operatic vocal talent.
