Mana's guitar set-up

Just a quick question and I'm hoping someone has the answer. First of all, I love the sound of Mana's guitar in Malice Mizer, like on Bel Air, Kioku to Sora, shi no butou, shiroi hada ni kuruu ai to kanashimi no rondo, etc. And my question regarding that is: Does anyone know what Mana's set-up was during Malice Mizer? Like what distortions and pedals he used, and anything about his guitar I might need to know.

Basically, I want to get sounds like that out of my guitar playing. SO any help would be much appreciated.

I can't seem to find some of the stuff he uses except on eBay. Like the Rocktron Chameleon and the Digitech HM4 Harmony Machine. Crap, I was hoping he was using something easier to find like some distortion pedals or something.

most mana equipment have been discountinued.
Assuming mana has bought his material before 2002 when malice mizer end their career. is normal that most things have been discountinued because in 4 years the companies dont sell the same thing over the years their evolving and change products.

And another things most artists dont say what they use in studio to record. you can be sure only mana knows what his secrets.

Well does anyone know of anything else that I could use to produce the sound Mana's guitar had back in the MM days? The sound of it on the Klaha version of Kioku to Sora is a great example of the sound I am talking about.

Any suggestions?

the only way is having the same guitar, the same amp and same effects.
For what i know guitar that ESP is selling is different, not the same.
amp unknow and effects too.
Believe that is almost impossible.
And if you want to have a band and some sucess try not to copy, use the material you go to a store and you enjoy to play.
peole who buy usually without playing an instrument can not like sound

Even without the exact same equipment, just by tweaking dials and knobs you can get a lot of analogous sounds to those you like. I've been doing it for years, with nothing but an amp and a guitar. Maybe not perfect, but close enough.

...also because I used to not have money. :D

Oh god that'd be such a pain in the ass live.
But it'd work for recording and stuff, and you could always just play a different version live or something ::cred::

I think even if you had the exact same equipment, you could spend years trying to get the same sound by trying various combinations of settings... plus their recorded sound probably different from live sound... ::bleh:: ... if I was you I'd work with what you have to get the sound you like the most possible.

Well I don't necassarily mean the 100% exact same sound, but something similar. Some of the stuff I've heard many use is effects I recognize, just different variations. And I've just been trying to find something that has the nice harmonic sound.

By no means do I want to copy Mana. Hell, I plan on being more of a Death Metal, Goregrind, and/or Black Metal artist. But I would like to thrown is stuff that is unorthodox to those genres and just things to show off my influences. And I would like parts in songs to where people could say "Hey, you can definitely hear a Mana/Malice Mizer influence in that song."

So its not so much as copying, as it is a show of respect to one of my single biggest influences.

When I used to play Malice Mizer stuff, i'd just tweak the settings. I have a mult effects thing and stuff like that. I got a pretty good sound too.

On my amp head I turned down the treble a bit. ;)
If you're interested I use these things...
ToneWorks AX3000G
Marshall 1960A 4x12 Angled Cabinet
Behringer V-AMPIRE LX1200H

Oh, and i'm not sure if guitar matters but I play a Gibson ES-335 aka. "Push it" XD

Either way, it's all a matter of tweaking. Even if you had Mana's exact setup, you'd still have to tweak because it's doesn't sound like that out of the box.
