Yes, I am talking about the one, the only Masami Akita. Better known as the noise master Merzbow.

I have been listening to his work a lot lately, and I find this man to be an absolute genius. Many people wouldn't even call his work music, but I do. Its pure art brought out in an insane soundwave of pure chaos and mayhem. Seriously, I can't even begin to describe how ingenius I find his music. Its rebellious and amazing.

Call me crazy or whatever you like. I am use to being insulted for my love for Merzbow. But I still think this man is a genius.

I've never heard of him.
To me it kind of sounds like he just sort of picked up where Schoenberg left off.

go away, you dont care
ive heard some stuff and its good.

i dont get the connection between noise and bondage stuff though, but then everything "goth" in japan means "gay", so who knows.
merzbow doesnt do bondage stuff anyway, i dont think. but probably his music is used in bondage shows, which sucks. this is music for violence, not gay stuff.

If you have never heard him, songs I would recommend:

Promotion Man
Apple Rock 3
Brown Pelican
Degradation of Tapes
Spiral Blast

The man has well over 100 CDs released, most of which are no longer available. So I don't think he would mind all that much you downloading his music.

Also I would like to say that the artwork I have seen for his CDs is awesome. He's a really good visual artist as well.

You can buy a few of his records at Tower records. I've seen merzbuddha and I know he has quite a few records released on alien 8 recordings (based in montreal)

Masami Akita is indeed into bondage. He has written a few books on the subject. He's also a vegetarian and esteemed animal rights activist or something >_>

I have a few songs of his from some compilations. I also have his Bondage Perfomances Vol. 1 and Merzbox: CD 21 - Pornoise.

He's pretty good. If you like that stuff, I suggest you pick up Masonna or Violent Onsen Geisha.

I've actually been to a few noise shows, and it's really interesting. I really respect how it's more about the music and art than an output of aural conformity.

they play his music in (cyber)goth clubs here, it's not bad.
you might like some dulce liquido or P.A.L. as well, although that's probably closer to industrial, which i actually prefer.
