I bought the merveilles l'espace DVD on eBay. the price was really okay, I checked the regio-code (which said 2) and so I thought it was the original japanese. So I spend 40€ in this thing and I got a bootleg  . I'm still pissed off, but the shop is gone now.
(and the regio-code is 0  that was the most evil seller ever in m opinion...)

if you payed by paypal there is a buyer protection system, that covers up to us$1000 , if the seller lies to you or does not send the item, you can try it. http://pages.ebay.com/paypal/buyer/protection.html

Some CDs are for Chinese release, as these CDs from MIYA records may be. There are ways for bootleggers to get around legal action, so don't count on it working. They even have an official website up, and it's not like it's hard to find, so I doubt they're doing it completely illegally.

^ The only out-of-japan releases that Mana does are in europe. MM, as far as anyone knows, has never done any chinese releases. They're a bootleg company with a website, yes, so doesn't that make it even worse? :/

I'm really not sure how the bootlegging business works, I'm just taking educated guesses really. xD

Famous in Inverse Proportion to How Cool I am
I've never been bothered that much by bootlegs.
I mean, I TRY to get only official merchandise, but bootlegs nevre really bother me unless there's something horribly wrong with them.
For example, when I was young and didn't know better, I bought that Memoire/Voyage combo thing that you see so often on ebay, and I thought I was the coolest kid in school.
For those of you who don't know, it's actually a very wel made bootleg, it incorporates ALL the album art from the two albums, the only problem was that Shi no Buto cuts off aobut hafway through and it made me really mad, so I went on a bitter quest to get the two real albums.
But I've come across bootlegs once in awhile that were so well made that I didn't figure out the difference until months, even years later.
Ibought a version of Dir en Grey's "Six Ugly" that I was convinced was legit, I had it for many many months, I never saw the tiny, microscopic "Miya" records on the back of the case, but all the artwork is accurate, the sound quality is perfect, even the front of the CD lable is accurate to the original, so I didn't think very much of it, and I still have it.

Did it have the peel away cover inside with the mini-lyrics booklet?

Somewhere over the rainbow...
I knew my Gackt DVDs were bootlegs when I bought them, but I was pretty okay with them. Except my Sixth Day and Seventh Night doens't have subtitles for my friends... but other than that I could really care less.

But those are my only bootlegs... I don't know why I feel okay with ripping off Gackt. I probably shouldn't... but I do buy legit copies of his CDs.

Someone stole my Diabolos CD out of my locker, though, so I just have my burned copy. *sad* Why would anyone steal it? No one in my school listens to my kind of music!

Yes and yes, it was one of the best made bootlegs I'd ever seen.

Sweet. Yeah, that's a pretty good bootleg. I wouldn't mind buying one that well made.

xDD I hade the same problem, way ago I bought that fake CDs and I was confused about Shi no Buto, I thought: "man why, does that band cut their songs like that?" [at this time I had NO idea about Malice Mizer, I even didn`t know the albums, and memberr, I bought it just because Baroque]
Anyway, yeah that pissed me off .__.

Even if it's well-made it's probably not going to have the same quality. You don't have any issues with being lied to, conned, and then not being able to support your favorite artists? In fact, you'd be supporting these criminals that screwed you over.

^ hey, hey, hey, now. They're just saying that at least since they spent the money on it, it wasn't utter shit. Those guys know better, and no one on this forums suports bootlegers or what they do. Those of us who have accidentally bought one of these ill got releases know better now, and now have the official ones for the most part.
