I wasn't really sure if this deserved its own topic, since it's not a Moitié-only store, but... :P

Someone with better French than me can translate, but essentially a boutique is to open in December in Paris selling the brands listed (right? XD;)

So, uh, discuss? I think it's a step closer to actually opening a store abroad. :)

All I can say is I wish I could go :( I wish there was a store like that opening around me >_> Its really nice though that Mana's line is going to be sold somewhere other than Japan/online. Maybe he'll gether the interest of more people and his sales will rise a bit :)

All I can say is the french like hte lcothes because of Japan, not because of the clothes.

Same thing with anything japan related there. So sad.

Jeez, that's one hell of an attack. If you say that about France, the same could be said for any country with an interest in anything imported from any culture other than one's own. That comment has no basis.

Am I the only one who feels that it's almost insulting for Moi-meme-Moitie to be sold next to these other products? I understand that it has to make it's debut in Europe somehow, but it really shouldn't be sold along with punk and Hello Kitty merchandise. Not to slam Hello Kitty or other such cultural phenomena, but...

::erm::

EDIT: Khyber has a good way of looking at it. This is a success, despite the artistic aberration of it all :P

Inside a wooden coffee cup... Go figure...
well pierrot has his own opinion which doesn't seem to be intended as an attack to the french people but it did set the same undertone. So maybe it's best to just move along...

::cred:: "I don't see Ben Franklin complaining, if you know what I mean! Ohohoho!"

I dunno, most of the brands listed there look like pretty sensible choices for someone stocking a lolita fashion shop. If they have some other trinkets on the side, I don't think it'll hurt things.

Seconded. Hell, I'd go so far as to say h.Naoto blows anything (with the few rare exceptions) mana sells out of the water. I love h. Naoto to death, and would actually dish out the $100s (and have) on his stuff rather than on Mana's clothes. :/

Thirded. I think it's really just to draw in more customers, since Putumayo and any h.naoto line are popular with wannabe/visual kids, and Hello Kitty has the power to draw in japanophiles and force them to spend money on pink, frilly things (i.e. Metamorphose). Personally, I'd be interested to see anyone pulling off a mix of Moitié's EGA line and punk brands; I don't see it as an affront to Elegant Gothic Sensibilities.

DDD: I'm not saying anyone who buys h.naoto is a wannabe, I mean like oftentimes people who fail at visual think they can just buy everything from an h. line and assume they'll look awesome. Also if you look on like visual communities on lj, most people list some h. line as one of their favorite brands - which isn't bad in itself, but there are good brands besides h.naoto...like Algonquins :D</plug>

::squee:: Yes, algonquins isn't bad. I don't like their word prints as much though. :/

Yay for off-topic! XD I'm glad mana's getting his stuff put in europe. It'll end the hassling during interviews. :P

It's already an insult we're breathing the same air as Mana's air...

*troll*

But, yeah... That's for money, money, money. I know more or less some of the guys who opened this shop, they're already involved in distribution of overseas CDs and band touring (Gan-shin, Free Will Europe, JVstore, etc - actually, they're ruled by the same people). They just smelled the money they could get and opened the shop. I don't like their bosses so I'd prefer not buying too many things from their activities, but anyway, I'm not interested in such clothes, so I'd not buy such clothes anyway

I don't mean 'insulting' as in MMM is better than the other merchandise, but MMM almost belongs in a shop that sells evening wear or even business clothes more than it does here. The only connection it has with the other merchandise is that "It's Japanese! ::bleh:: "

But this business arrangement makes sense, as you said Flowers. It will get MMM out there and on the market. Mana will be able to see how popular it is and if it sells he might be able to get an actual Moi-meme-Moitie shop in Europe.

The clothes are considered to be in the same genre and style as the other brands, regardless of their origin, so it makes sense that they would be sold in the same place, in or out of Japan.

Second that.

It's nice to hear that MMM will be in France. =)
And something like Putumayo or a lot of the others.
So we don't need to pay these extreme shipping costs. x.x
Mh. I think it's a good idea.
May I can get a friend of mine who is visiting France quite often to go with me to France so I can look a bit around in that shop. =^.^=

I understand that they're related to the sweet lolita things, and to a lesser extent even the punkish clothes, but I would still think that they would belong in separate stores. I also understand, though, that this is kind of a Europe-debut and that it's just convenient from a business stand-point to do.
