Since I chose Registered Airmail, I may receive it this week. I stopped to use EMS because I was getting a bit pissed of being taxed by the customs for almost every order -_- and btw, Registered Airmail is as quick as EMS and there are less risks of getting extra-taxed by customs.
Same here =) Registered airmail's so much better ^^ can't wait to hear all the remakes (^.^)/

I used non-registered airmail so there would be a chance it could get into my mailbox without having to be signed for and all that nonsense. Might even be quicker than EMS when you factor that in.

same here, i was tired of finding a pink slip taped to my door and started going with the unregistered airmail despite all the "you can't track your package and it COULD take up to 8 weeks" warnings. so far it's been the same speed as registered air for me, and i dont have to wait an extra week to find the time to go pick up the order i missed from the post office

Oh. You are so lucky  You receive a slip. The last two times I ordered with CdJapan, I received nothing at all. Apparently, the packages made a round-trip. And the last time I ordered something, not with CDJapan, my package was delivered 100 numbers too low. Of course the inhabitants of that house refused it. Finally, I got it after that the seller had contacted the Post Office. I hope that this time, I'll receive the CD without any problem ...

I can't wait! I'm going to have a hard time not skipping to front et baiser and la dix croix first. Those are the only songs I've ever wanted remade, truthfully.

Yeah, and he even price it 100 yen cheaper than the original, how very nice of him! :P
Based on everyone's answer SAL register is pretty reliable but most likely takes 3 weeks, I think I'll stick with the usual register airmail then.

I'VE GOT IT!!!

I really didn't expected it that fast since I chose registered air mail too! Wow, a day before official relase! Thank you Mana!

I just start to listening it so I can't say about songs yet.
Now I can say there is Maglaia instead of Midi:Nette
I love the fact that the cd is bloody red ♥ but I dislike the paper which is mat and black colour is rather grey...

But omg, I'm so excited!

I got the CD a day early too! :D Actually I think whenever you pre-order a CD in Japan, it'll come to you one day early. I seem to remember getting D+SECT a day early too.

I LOVEEEE all the new versions of course <3 Especially Dialogue Symphonie, since that is the song I voted for when Mana asked people for choices on his blog.
And Je L'aime? BEAUTIFUL.

Well, I have mixed feelings on this one. Though it sounded like a good idea on paper, ultimately I think this release should have been a single à la Lamentful Miss (1 new track and 2 B-side remakes) rather than a whole album of remakes.

As Elluin pointed out, the booklet has a matte rather than glossy texture like usual. While I'm glad that I won't smudge the booklet every time I look at it, this makes the quality of the printing significantly lower. The back cover graphic and text is completely indiscernible. Is Mana cutting corners?

The Midi:Nette logo has been featured on every piece of Mana's work since at least 1994. It has weathered no less than 18 years of ups and downs and witnessed many milestones in the careers of some of my favorite artists. Now it's been unceremoniously tossed aside and replaced. And for what? "Maglaia"? What is that? I hope I won't be disappointed by the answers.

I notice that Yukie Itoh's name is also absent from the credits. Did she leave? Was she kicked out? Is she taking the Midi:Nette namesake with her? Or did Mana simply skimp on the credits? I notice he reused some of the violin and vocal tracks from Nocturnal Opera, but he curiously doesn't credit the musicians who performed them this time around. Hopefully they're getting their royalties at least.

Mana has done some great reboots in the past. The Lamentful Miss version of Forbidden is like a revelation--we can finally hear the song in its full glory. Tentation's arrangement was reworked extensively on DIXANADU, to great effect. It sounds glorious, it has been tailored to suit Seth, and it fits seamlessly with the character and songs of the rest of the album.

Reprise is not an example of this. It's full of missed opportunities and it lacks a unified inspiration or sound. You can feel it shifting gears from "Dix Infernal" to "Nocturnal Opera" and back again. The songs are all exactly as they were written for Juka, which sometimes is fine and sometimes causes Seth a bit of grief (and me a bit of boredom). The arrangements are all exactly the same, they're just performed with Mana's new soundbank now. As I mentioned before, the female vocals and violin tracks from Nocturnal Opera are ripped straight from the album.

There are a couple changes that pleased me. The intro to front et baiser, for instance, is new and interesting. The synth horns in The Prophet are slightly improved over the original, and we get to hear K sing a bit, which is interesting. Overall though, just imagine the original tracks with bigger, bolder instrumentation (not always a good thing. Solitude's strength was in it's sparseness), and Seth singing instead of Juka.

I'm not a fan of Je l'aime. It does have a nice chorus that sounds strangely like a Broadway musical to me, but the guitars don't do much of interest and it's ultimately all too sweet and sappy for my taste.

Lamentful Miss pointed to the new direction of Moi dix Mois. It featured Moi dix Mois' best guitar work, mixing, recording, and performing up to that point, and it was really inspired. To my thinking, that was more of a watershed, more of a "reprise", than Reprise is. This release seems like filler, perhaps a hold-over until Mana figures out what he's doing next, and I think it's of lower quality than D+Sect in terms of production (which I think was also of slightly lower production quality than DIXANADU). Mana might have something brilliant (or at least interesting) up his sleeve with the whole "Maglaia" and "Reprise" concept, but this album isn't filling me with much hope. I thought Moi dix Mois was on the right track with DIXANADU and D+Sect, that it would all just be a steady progression to bigger, better things.

What comes next is anybody's guess.

I've been listening to Reprise almost whole day, so I'll try to write my experiences. First of all forgive me my poor English, too much repeating words and not enough musical knowlegde.

En Lumiere - typical MdM intro with great harpsichord sound and some church bells in background. At the end there is a "message from hell" form reverse side of obi. Sometimes it sounds like Dialogue Symphonie.
Dialogue Symphonie - at the begining it sound very similar to old version, is only a some different sound of guitar at one moment and later some church bells again. I'm not sure how to say it, but sometimes guitar sounds more likely to d+sect, even if the melody is still the same.
Front et baiser - the begining is more slowly and Seth's sing it in different way, then there is the same intro like in old version, though the sound of the instrument is again slightly different. A few notes in singing are little changed and they are shorter (I really like that! it annoys me in Juka's voice). Also added some megaphone effect.
Solitude - Intro is the same but sounds better. Sometimes background piano seems to be changed a little.
the Prophet - horns sound are more extended, then it's very similar to the old version. At least I hear some English, not like Juka's version :P
Invite to Immorality - Again, a little different sound and it's shorter, only 0:33. And there is no voice.
Nocturnal Romance - Very similar to the original version
Vestige - Some small differences with longer sounds at the begining, I can hear the background violin a little better.
La dix croix - Again, no bigger changes, only Seth sings some other notes sometimes.
Secret longing - Almost no difference.
Pageant - Also very alike.
Je l'aime - I love the intro. It starts with organs, then some strings and choir, and sensual Seth's voice, some bells at background. Then it gets a little faster with guitars and organs. Sometimes there are some "switches" and it sounds more like a mix of songs. The melody is very rich. At the end there is lovely a capella singing. And is quite long, it takes 6:22

Overall, Mana did a great job with these remakes. I'm very pleased with these. There is no bigger changes like he has done before with Ange, Tentation and the others. But everything sounds better and more "juicy", bass line is definitely better. And now I can say without any doubts, that I prefere Seth's vocal. He improved a lot since Beyond the Gate. Even IMO Juka has better tone of the voice, he has some mannerism which I really don't like. His sounds are just too long, I don't know how to explain but it's like he's trying too hard. Seth sings more smoothly.
I think this cd is more for people who's listening Moi dix Mois a lot. I could say, those who don't like them that much won't hear much diffrences.
