Since it was suggested, I figured I'd take a poll. Would you be interested in having a scape group chat through Skype in the near future?

This poll will stay open for exactly 30 days to this posting, so please get your choices in asap.

I'd be interesting to try, but I fear that it won't be the same. In the end, it'd end up being only 2 or three people talking and everyone else being drowned out and not being able to comment. I, for one, have a very soft spoken voice, so yeah..

I'd be willing to try it out, though.

^ I figure we'll only do it once. My thoughts are pretty much the same as yours. It'll be the loud people being loud and the shy people too afraid to butt in. XD

I don't feel like it should be, or would be for that matter, a scapechat wide thing.

I feel like the few people who really wanna do it can go and do it, and it'd be a seperate thing from scapechat, but on the same day and with only scape members.

It wouldn't be any official kinda thing but I think it'd be fun for the few of us (me included) who would totally love to do a voice-call with multiple other scape members (which would be totally less awkward than with just 1 other member)

Well, Skype does have a Chat Function. So if we did do a Voice Chat, we could have the Chat Room open for folk who couldn't or didn't want to use the VC. That way, they'd still be able to listen in.

Nah, I don't think so. Skype is good at handling that sort of stuff. I'm often engaged in chats on Skype with 25+ people, voice chat included.

It depends on what program you use to host it. If it's on vent I'll defiantly go since I'm usually always in vent when on my PC :P Yet to be honest I may not talk very much anyway. Only now did I really start to talk to people I've been playing WoW with for the past year.

Skype isn't the problem, it's everyone's individual computers. How much RAM does your computer have? :P

I don't think the capacity of your computer is the problem. Voice chatting is even possible on really old computers, as long as it can run Windows 95 and has the driver of the microphone.

Anyway, the problem with a voice chat is that it will be very chaotic. The advantage of a chat is that you can read everything, but in a voice chat that isn't possible. It will either end up with just a few people chatting, or a chaotic mess.

Also, some people are shy over the microphone, so they will be entirely removed from those sessions because they will definitely not have an opportunity to talk. It's also hard to recognize the voices of the members, especially through a microphone.

I never enter those group chats, so it isn't that important to me, but I thought I would just give my opinion.

You know, in the event that people here feel that a voice chat would be too 'OMG ::zetsubou::,' you can still do a Skype chat without the voice function.

There is an option to do a chat without voice and it would work just like IRC, only now only people from scape can come (an invitation would be made)

You can set mod rules, make the chat public, private, etc. Just another option, guys!

Don't worry about it Antaeus. I can honestly say I've been on a voice chat with 20+ people and it worked out just fine.

Then again it was an mmo, but we still chatted like regular buddies asides from the battle strategy. >_>;

If your computer's memory can't handle the large influx of data hitting it at once, it with either lag to hell or crash. How do I know? Personal experience. :P

One, two, or even three people at once generally isn't a problem, but when you start getting into five and six, or even nine or ten, that's when it starts to get sketchy.
