I think i disagree with most of the people here ::shifty::

I've heard them til Clever Sleazoid, and their last albums (IMO) were so... monotonous and predictable... i haven't heard their last single, but at least i'm sure that, until CS, i like better their old music.

I don't dislike the way they look now, but at the same time they seem to me like any other western rockband...

Well, everyone has their own opinion. I still like them, though, even when i preffer their old style, BUT, i also still need to hear their new songs...

Adieu

How come I get the feeling that no matter what makeupless Dir en grey does, they'll always be shunned and somewhat trolled?

I have my doubts in them in some areas, mostly in the vocal department, but, they're not looking bad, exactly, because seriously.. there's ALOT worse.

About the 'westernizing' thing.. I don't get it. OBSCURE has it's KoRn-like sounds to it, but, other than that, I can't think of any others that sound like a 'western' band. If anyone else does, please enlighten me.

As opposed to being like any other visual kei band? Let's be honest, they weren't exactly breaking new ground there.

The "western" thing is always slung (is that a word?) around like an insult. Obviously western bands are inferior to Japanese bands, so Dir en grey sucks because they're western sounding. :P

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. "OMG ::insertbandhere:: SOUNDS WESTERN GRAAAAH ::smite::" It's all I heard since I knew Diru existed. D:

I think Dir en Grey is still slightly visual, they may not be VK visual with bright purple spiked hair and black leather costumes or any of that. Yet still carry some of their old visual elements.

As far as their music goes, I like some of their old songs and some of their new, spread around about evenly. :) F'r'instance, I didn't really think much to CS, but I like Ryoujoku no Ame and a number of the songs off WTD; similarly there are plenty of the older songs I don't like, too, although some will always stand out for me. :)

Lookswise, I give not a damn.

I don't want to divague here, but MUCC is still considered by Miya as a visual kei band. He said so one day (or was it two?) after the release of Utagoe, at otakon 2006, so I think it's not just about absolute costume-makeup-omg.

Besides, Ryoujoku no Ame, which is a latest single, sounds very "old diru" except, matured and professional, so~

Someone can give me a link?

Why can I imagine that...?

To the music point, I like both, old and new music. Every album has it's good and not so good songs. But I enjoy old and new songs the same.

Is it the pic you see on biography?

Kyo looks like...Kyo? The jacket is something for...you need to like stuff like that to like it. Let's say like this. ^.~
Kaoru like Kaoru lately. I don't think the beard or haircut suits him
Die looks like a person living near a trash-can
Toshiya like "Yeah, I am a cool kid hangin' out on streets!"
Shinya...mh...like Shinya lately. His facestructe looks quite masculine in this pic. And I can't get friend with the hair. But it doesn't look that bad either.

*giggles slightly*
When I saw him at the meet and greet he didn't look...how should I phrase this?
You could tell he was a guy, but he had some very feminine features.

Because..*smiles* it's totally what it looks like.

I didn't think so at first either, but it kinda grew on me. I think hes been looking A LOT more attractive as of late.

Or.. "Hi, I don't want you to see my face and I'm going to put my hands up and look mysterious"

His face looks somehow br...great...I don't know how to write the word...uhm...wide? Not so small like it normally looks.
Maybe because of the hairpuff.

Because..*smiles* it's totally what it looks like.
I think so. *laugh*

I am still into the pink haired Kaoru. ;) (I know one pic in which he has blonde-brown hair, very casual looking. In that he looks good!)

Or.. "Hi, I don't want you to see my face and I'm going to put my hands up and look mysterious"
...still more for my suggestion. ;)

Am I the only person who doesn't mind how Toshiya looks. I've showed the picture to non-fans/people who don't know Diru, and they didn't mind the look either. I feel like it's just like OMG HE DOESNT LOOK LIKE A HOOKER NO MORE. GRAAAAAAH!

Nobody EVER comments on how terrible Kyo looked in Ryojoku no Ame.

I'm on your side about Toshiya.
I don't think he looks bad now. It is true, he doesn't look like a hooker anymore. LOL. But that doesn't matter. He's also much older.

However, I don't think Kyo looked very bad in RnA. I mean, I was a bit taken aback and first I was like ">>>>CHINPUBES WTF?" and then I don't mind it. I really like his pants / boots. Not many people agree with me, but I think he looks fine
of course he doesn't look "ZOMG SEXY BITCH" but not bad

He looks A lot better in person actually. He looks gorgeous in person.

No, what the hell. Toshiya still looks like a sexy hooker.
