Definitely ,the Klaha era.Klaha has a great voice, and this era is great too.
But i think Malice Mizer was born to do various type of songs in order to describe humain nature..and for me the climax of it is Merveilles,as a story,as musical drawing of the man of Vitruve.
Gackt has a perfect voice to fit all kind of music..
My favourite song is from Gackt Era: Gekka no Yasoukyoku

Klaha era is a bit too monochromatic ,in spite of its high quality.

Tetsu Era has a great point,a good mix between a dark music and a warm voice full of emotion..

At first, I think that Klaha era was too short... maybe if it was longer, there would make more various songs... And there was such songs as Gardenia, Beast of Blood... album Bara no Seidou... they're so different... so soft and light Gardenia... so wild and chic Beast of Blood... so deep and dark Bara no Seidou, so mysterious and gentle Garnet.... )

Definitely the Gackt era, IMO.

The first time I heard Tetsu, I couldn't stand it. Now that I've listened to it a few times I appreciate the uniqueness of it and how talented he really is. I wish the Gackt era would have continued to be Tetsu's era just to see how it would've developed. I really love Tetsu's voice now.

The Gackt era isn't really bad, it's just... too prissy for me. I actually really like Gekka no Yaso Kyoku, but other than that...

The Klaha era is probably my favorite, but I don't want to say it's better than the Tetsu era. I really love Bara no Seidou, Garnet, Beast of Blood... I love everything from that era. It just seems so much more inspired and well-written. Also, Klaha has a really mature voice and his vibrato suits the songs really well.

I would have to say the Klaha era as a lot of the time it seemed like everything was falling apart. Yes they had their instruments but you could tell it was still synthed. You can tell if you look at their playing. Also at times it seemed like Kozi was more the vocalist then Klaha. In one concert you can see another behind Yu~ki playing guitar for one of them. Off the top of my head I can't remember which one. For them playing instrument wise I would have to say I love the tetsu era. Though at times his voice grates on my nerves. I have to be in a certain mood for it. I loved how they showcased everyone more though and he would step back. One of my biggest things against the Gackt era is how they kinda played down some of them at times. I agree the dances did get a bit annoying but they do them at times in the Klaha era. Really they all have their faults and good points. Having to choose I do pick Klaha though.

Without a doubt my least favourite is tied between Gackt and Klaha. If Malice Mizer only existed from 92-94, they would probably be my favourite band.

if you think that mm had to cut down on acting or just remove it completly, then they would be just another regular band :\ i remember that mana said on an interview that he wish that mm was something different from all other current bands, even in the way that he composes and play his guitar. I know that musicians are expected to play their instruments all through the live, but then again MM is different. To completely enjoy the music, you must listen to the song and try to understand their visual world that they try to build. It is not for everyone.

Also, i don't think they acted poorly...they are not actors, but in those two MM movies they showed that they have some talent for acting. in tetsu era they used a lot of guitar work...the songs were mostly rock, but in gackt era they tried many other styles that didn't had much or any guitar, and that does not mean that it was bad. Not only MM uses synth in their lives. i think it is not something to have shame of, they are talented musicians and do not have to prove anything to anyone like having to play hard guitar solos. I am all for them playing their instruments, yes....but also i think they are more than just plain musicians, they could send their message through many other ways than just music, and this is a beautiful thing.

completely agree qith this whole coment!

i will keep my right to abstinence in this poll cause i definitively have no answer to that.

420: smoke gensou rakuen every day.

I'm going with Gackt era too. A lot of great songs from that era, but Bara no Seidou ruled so much harder.

What the hell is wrong with people that don't like that album? You crazy.

MALICE MIZER was always awesome.
This pretty much. I think each era has it's own positives and negatives, but they're all pretty cool.
Though Voyage had the worst costumes.

There are good Voyage-era songs! They're all the ones leftover from the Tetsu era ::meev:: (Tsuiko no kakera, Shi no butou, Zenchou, Ma Cherie)

But I like Transylvania, Nps Ngs (yes, the crap version), and Madrigal too.

I like Voyage too. I just think it's not really their highest achievement.

I think Tetsu was bad, but I didn't really like Klaha either. I like the music from Klaha era, but I think they were trying too hard to be a goth band. It went from being a kind of colorful unique band to everyone wearing all black and ... I don't know. I also preferred the Gackt movie over the Klaha one, there both weren't very good, but the vampire storyline has been done way too many times.
