You know, the book about sparkling vampires and emo kids by Stephanie Meyer.
And now the movie is out. I wanna see how many of you like it.

And I must just say, the modern vampire has been castrated.

I was forced to read the first one, then I willingly read the second one (because I hate not finishing a series even if I despise it x_x) and then was not allowed to read the other two because I kept complaining about it XD

I'm going to ask the same question as Berserk:

Where's the "I've heard of it but haven't read it yet" and "I wouldn't read it in a million years" options? I can't exactly dislike something without having read it, and I HAVE heard of it, soo...

Anyways, I refuse to read the books. The verdict on them is that they are very poorly written and so I will learn nothing from reading them. I am, however, planning on seeing the movie for laughs.

By the way, how do you let yourself be FORCED into reading something? Were they holding a gun to your head? Seriously, just say NO.

P.S. I don't really care how vampires are portrayed in the books, even if they suck (and I don't mean blood). They're a fictional supernatural creature (as far as we know), and thus can be interpreted and re-imagined in any way a writer, filmmaker, illustrator, etc, likes.

I tried to edit it, but I can't edit the poll...

Stephanie Meyer would be a good writer if she had an imagination.

I go to school with these people. They'd never leave me alone.

Which they don't.

Bram Stoker has risen from his grave and is hunting down Ms. Meyer as we speak -_-

I don't like it. Never read it but I don't like vampires as they're over done and generally just lame. Then vampires IN HIGH SCHOOL well now that just sounds bad and not worth my time at all. I read the summaries of the books on wiki and it just well yeah it sounds bad.

Because she secretly likes it, but is trying to be cool by saying it sucks like everyone else. If I hated a book, there is no way in hell I'd go read its 200+ page sequel.

Anyway, I haven't read this, nor does the movie trailer appeal to me in any way. I'm not really a vampire person, or a sappy teen romance person, so that kind of kills any chances of me liking it.

No, there is a vast difference between finding it amusing and actually liking and/or respecting it. Plus, I skipped so many pages.
"Hm, Bella's being emo... *skips 30 pages* Wait... wasn't she whining about the same thing 30 pages ago???"
OCD, it's the only reason I ever finished the Animorphs series in 4th grade.

Eh, a lot of my friends are huge Twilight fans and I just found out that one of my close friends is a huge Twilight fan. She went on to tell me the symbolism behind the covers and stuff like that, and how she was mad she didn't go to the premiere. I was thinking, "Oh no, not her too!" XD

I guess I'd vote 'I heard of it but never read it' XD I tolerate my friends but I'm never going to read it ::gaku::

At least my best friend doesn't like it AT ALL, so I have someone to complain to :P

The first time I heard about Twilight was when Time did a little article about the book and its author. It didn't seem interesting in the least and then I learned about it a bit more through the internet. The thing that really turned me off was reading a small Twilight excerpt, something about the main vampire dude being sparkly and too beautiful for this world. I dunno, it sounded so stupid.

And there are supposedly a lot of craaaaazy fans over this and they make a BFD about everything. The movie doesn't look that impressive either. Everyone looks like they should be zombies instead of vampires. XD

So yeah, would not get into this series. Ever. Give me Bela Lugosi's Dracula plz.

I added a "Refuse to read it option" for you. (Only mods can edit polls).

And that's my answer too. ::meev:: Just from the little bit I know about it, I can instantly, confidently, SHAMELESSLY declare it a bag of tripe. The author took out everything that makes the idea of a vampire story interesting. She just wanted them all sparkly and pretty. The plot synopsis reads like a 14 year old's fanfic tbh. ::gaku::

Also, I am a purist and take offense to the name of one of the main characters.

THERE IS ONLY ROOM FOR ONE BELA IN A VAMPIRE STORY.

Excuse me? My fan fiction (which is slowly dying off) is way better than that crap.
Wait... I'm fifteen.
Still better

I've heard so many things about the series, good and bad but mostly bad. Plus I don't get the hype about the series if it's written like a piece of fanfiction that only teenagers would read. :/ What has become of literature?!

I voted for the refuse to read it option.

Not a day goes by where I don't see or hear some mention of this dreadful monstrous evacuation of hell.

I'm not into it at all. I read some of it and hated myself for wasting time.

I see them around all the time. A while before it was popular I saw Twilight in a book store and thought "hm, a vampire book. Wonder if it's any good?"
A week later my friend bout and read it, then another friend borrowed it. Then they wanted me to read it.
And then they were EVERYWHERE.
I see at least three a day at school.

Now then tell me, how is it that such a crappy book is as big as a freaking bible? And no less there are four (soon to be five I think) of them?

I read the first two about a year and a half ago (before people were TOTALLY psycho over it) and for some reason liked it at the time? I actually went to the Eclipse Prom event she held in Phoenix, since it's her home town, and got my copy signed.

Then, the third book came out and I realized.... that I had no urge to read it. So I never did. And in doing so, realized how horrid the damned books really were. The thing about them is that though they're poorly written with stupid, childish and outrageous plotlines, they're such page turners because they're basically soap operas in book form. :P

& I hate how liking vampires is suddenly so typical. WTF, LEAVE MY FETISHES BE. Dx

Read it this summer. Well, half of the first book.

What a waste of time. ::bleh::

I meant in the case of Twilight. I LOVE vampires.

@navate: YOU'RE AWESOME! Bela Lugosi beats all.

... Do you think that's why Twilight's main character is named Bella? Is Stephanie Meyer a Bela Lugosi fan?

I feel like I should read it because a lot of my friends are in love with it, but then one of my friends told me that it was awful and I trust her literary judgment more than some of my other friends, so I never bothered. Now that I've heard so much about how badly written it is, I'm kind of tempted to read it to see for myself. Too bad I have books to read for school, and then, like, three other books that are actually good to read/reread. Twilight does not take priority over A Clockwork Orange or The Hobbit, even though I've read those before.

I think she means that the vampires in twilight don't suck blood?
