I did, and they just came 2 minutes ago...but I have to finish my video game first :P And this is why I swore 4 years ago to never play video games again. We can see where my priorities lie.

No, I didn't order it. I wasn't really intrested either. I think Hora is fun and all, but for some reason I didn't think this would've been a good album.

He needs that girl...what's her name? Experiment 0513?

She was good.

...I really like it...but I guess it depends on what you look for in music and what you were expecting from it.

Judging from what he said -"give it a try"- it sounds like he's expecting file sharing anyway. Of course, those who ordered through me, this does not mean you can get out of PAYING me but...

The fact that only 500 were pressed, half the previous album, was a bit worrying to me. His expectations were less for this album? Or what? If I had been more impressed with INNER UNIVERSE I probably would have ordered, but it still feel to me like he's gearing up with all these quiet releases. I'm sure when he releases something more ambitious later on, like a full album, I'll order it.

Well, this WAS a full 10-track album... even if I thought he should cut out half of it XD

I didn't buy it and I wasn't really interested either. I was disappointed with Inner Universe, so I wasn't planning on getting The World and now that I have listened to it I'm glad I didn't go through the trouble of ordering it. I'm a big fan of electronic music, much more than guitar driven music, and I listen to everything from cheesy Futurepop to hardcore Noise, so I have a lot to compare this CD against. IMO it is very weak and I suspect if it had been written by some American or European artist instead of an ex-member of Schwarz Stein people's reaction to it would be rather more indifferent.

The longer Schwarz Stein are gone the more I miss them. :(

...that's how I felt about Dix Infernal, actually. I couldn't help thinking if it weren't Mana (and I do like some metal, though I'm more trance/punk/pop) it would have flopped.
But I still wouldn't call it weak, because I get the feeling it's what Mana wants it to be. I get the sense this album is what Hora wants it to be too...I mean, I don't think people just write minute long songs without a reason.

I love the album, and it IS strongly linked with the fact that I know who Hora is. If this were some European/American person I'd never heard of and knew nothing about I would still like it, but I wouldn't spend the $26 for it. But then all music/art loses something when it's out of context, right? Ex. I love Navate's stuff, but knowing who she is and who some of her subjects are makes her art even better to me~I guess it's extremely subjective no matter which way you look at it.

This doesn't mean I don't miss Schwarz Stein too though

EDT: Yeah, come to think of it, I won't buy anything Jrock unless I know about the artist...

Well, going by that sense... Blutengel's Chris Pohl has numerous other groups, such as Terminal Choice,Tumor, Pain of Progress, Seelenkrank... and then there's all sorts of other groups from other members, like Tristesse de la Lune. I've heard various songs by them, and only heard of them because of Chris Pohl, but isn't that the point? If you like a band, and they have another project, were in a group, etc, wouldn't you try to find songs from the other band? Sure, you might not like the work, but wouldn't you still be interested in at least hearing what it was like?

Of course, I bought Dix Infernal because it was Mana and I nearly bought Inner Universe because it was Hora (I only didn't because I don't like sending cash by mail) and both albums had their flaws. The difference between the two is that IMO Mana's work is getting stronger whereas Hora's work is getting weaker and I don't mean that in the sense that he is moving away from his SS sound. As I said, I listen to a lot of different types of electronic music, so that doesn't bother me at all. I just think that musically The World is pretty unexciting - at least to me.

[EDIT] I'd like to add that I wasn't disappointed with Dix Infernal - on re-reading my post it sounds like I was. For all its flaws I thought DI showed a potential that got me really excited (hence my positive review on -scape-). I'm afraid I can't say the same about Inner Universe or The World.

This is some good discussion, but why don't we continue it in the review thread over in the SS section? I bet more people would see it there.

Incidentally I don't think Hora's BEST is getting weaker, but THE WORLD was not made entirely of Hora's best.

Sorry, I didn't mean to start a discussion. I was just explaining why I voted the way I did.

*just adding something I wouldn't in the SS section* I like the CD because when I first heard it I was cleaning my room, and there were these moments that just made me stop.

Musically, I don't know. But emotionally, it's like hearing my experiences over the last year retold through music (starting from track 5 and not including track 6)...so it's personal for me. It's the first time I've had that reaction to something, and that's part of why I like it too. Of course it's not going to appeal to everyone that way I'd imagine though.

I know, I was just saying that this might even be worth reposting over there since it is almost like a mini-review.

So it looks like about 75% of the active forum population is interested in Hora, and 25% of them actually buy Hora CDs. Interesting, interesting.
So in other words, 1 in 3 Hora fans buy his CD. If THE WORLD sold out, does that mean he has 1500 fans? XD

...well, it means 1/4 of the people who are interested enough in the topic to actually vote and who actualyl check the polls section bought the CD...so it's probably more like 10% of scape at the most. But the sample is completely inconclusive.

I think he has more Japanese fans yo.

i voted on third option. I don't like SS music and Hora's solo music seems weak and uninteresting to me -- the first album is better than this new one though, in my opinion.
