It doesn't help that CD sales are only 25% of what they were five years ago, even established western bands are having a hard time.

My friend met Sugizo yesterday. She said she was in downtown doing some stuff for work and this guy going into Walgreens caught her attention. She was curious and went in and realized who it was, shook his hand and spoke with him briefly. How cool ::squee::

I'm not that interested in X but it would be super tight to meet Sugizo, or any of the members actually.

How lucky is that?

So, did anyone actually go to the concert? :) I'm looking forward to see a review! Unfortunately, there is absolutely no way that I could watch since they're performing in Vancouver (which is 12-18 hours away?) and Toronto (which would probably take forever before I get there). But -- and only but -- if they did extremely awesome, I might reconsider and go to Vancouver. :p

I went to the Seattle show with Wandering_Fox. It was so AMAzing and X really brought the energy! I don't have time for a lenghty review b/c i'm at work, but if people here are interested I'll post one up later today.

Ok this what I have to say about seeing X JAPAN live in Seattle...

*clears throat* As my father once said, when it comes to bands there are certain ones you should see live at least once in your life time. Either because they are legendary (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Iron Maiden), a visual spectacle (MUSE, Lady Gaga, Depeche Mode) or they are just downright bad ass live (TOOL, Green Day, KMFDM). In any case, X JAPAN fit the bill for me on ALL THREE imo!

Now, the live was not quite sold out, but there was all walks of life at the paramount theater. Japanese students/visitors, Otaku peeps, hardcore metal heads, goth folk, to even a select group of parents. The expectations for everyone were there own, but they wanted to see their beloved X JAPAN after soooo many years. so here was the setlist...

Jade
Rusty Nail
Silent Jealousy
Drain
Violin and Piano Interlude
Kurenai
Born To Be Free
Drum Solo
I.V.
X

Encore:
Endless Rain
Art of Life

I can't give a song by song review because when the whole band stepped on stage and 'Jade' started up I wasn't going to care if they played my favorite songs or not but I just let the whole live experience simply take me away. The top performances were during Rusty Nail, Silent Jealousy, Kurenai, and of course X. The whole crowd was throwing up the cross arms, Hide dolls, metal horns and just having a F*cking good time. Yoshiki was very femine in his speech, posture, and mannerisms when he talked to us, but on the drums.....on my god he still is as good as he was back then. Toshi can still make people get energized and SCREAM. Heath and Pata didn't really do anything special, and Sugizo was amazing playing guitar and violin (and had the best outfit too).

At the end of Art of Life, they took a bow which they rightfully deserved, accepted two bouquet of roses from us Seattlites, and simply took in the moment because this tour is a big deal deal for them. After this whole tour is done, they should take in this great accomplishments and have a sense of pride. Should they put out another album, I want them to tour again and come back. I'm definitely going to see them again any chance that I get.

For any scapers in New York, Toronto, or Chicago: They are coming your way and YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS CONCERT! They had fire shooting everywhere, awesome video-tron, lights, fog, and just the perfect mood for every song.

P.S: This isn't too important but is worth mentioning. Wandering_fox and I shared a cocktail before the show to mark this occasion. I had a Rusty Nail (scotch and Drambuie) and he had a Say Anything (absolut & cran). The opening act was a emo rock group call Vampires Everywhere! Didn't care but maybe people on here will

Cheers to you X JAPAN!!!!

A ton of shirts! They have about eight different designs. There was also a hoodie, wristband, keychain dudad, but the most outragous thing on sale were two different "Yoshikitty" plusies going on sale for $100 each! @_@

They're playing at Sunday night at NYCC. I'm not a big fan or anything but I thought about going since I'll be there and based on the reviews it sounds like a good time and they do have some good songs and all. But by the time the show is over and I take the train back to Connecticunt it's going to be 2am and I have to be up at 6:30am for work. So it's a good thing that I'm not a huge fan because this would suck really bad. (Of course if I was that big of a fan I'd probably just take the next day off or call in sick. )

But come on, you guys are only playing a handful of North American shows. Can you maybe try to make them on nights of the week when most people would be able to attend? People who are not rockstars usually have things to do on Monday mornings, like go to work and school.

Saw them last night. Toshi sounded amazing, Yoshiki was great on drums. Sugizo Im still not a fan of. I love his violin playing, but his guitar work isnt good IMO. Or it at least isnt suited for X Japan.

Pata and Heath were just sort of there, which is how I always felt about them. Pata is really reserved, though sometimes he gets more into it. Heath, just isnt that great of a bassist lol. I mean, it works, but eh, Im not a huge fan. His style is cool, but yeah.

Overall it was a great show though. High energy and a great performance.

Vampires Everywhere were horrible though. Auto-tuned screamo just shouldnt exist. Musically, they are decent, but thats about it.

Got hoodie and a tshirt though. Drove 7 hours there and 7 hours back in one day to see X Japan. Worth it.
