well this is just a matter of opinions

but to me he sounds like a angry guy that just lost his food or something

it's just uncontrolled screaming (emo/screamo anyone?)
so yeah
plus, what i meant with angry kiddy music:

i think that song resembles a lot with the music all those young mallgoths and stuff listen to (or the emo's, what ever)
i mean

you can't deny that a lot of young children that first get into metal listen to this sort of music, you know.. (not particulary diru)
ah what the heck

bottom line is
i just don't like their music
that's all :)

no
loud music = cool
this diru song (or all songs for that matter) = kiddy stuff

...no? I know we're averse to pigeonholing/over-classifying stuff, but get your basic facts straight, dude.

You don't know a thing about emo, do you?

Yes I can, easily. I got into metal via traditional routes, and in my experience as an American, the majority of kids, no matter the age, who like metal got into it thanks to AC/DC, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, etc etc. I think you're overestimating Dir en grey's role in people's tastes.

Dude.. what?

Emo usually doesn't have ANY screaming. If it does, it's usually the high pitched whiney raspy ones. The ones that are always in the same tone. There is nothing emo about a mallgoth, there is nothing mallgoth about an emo kid. Mallgoths like things like Linkin Park, NIN, Mudvayne, Slipknot, ect. Emo kids like.. whatever emo band is popular at the moment. Dir en grey does not fit in either area. Mallgoth music is usually somewhat good music that accidentally slipped into their hands and money made them change. Emo is usually pop-punk with Iron Madien-inspired riffing, but with a more.. emotional tone. There is NO 'uncontrolled screaming' in either genre. You're thinking of grindcore. Dir en grey isn't grindcore either.

I bet you haven't even HEARD the stuff you're comparing it to. This song has been compared to KoRn (Ahem.), Metallica (Ahem!), and of course the western/nu metal term was just thrown about over and over, and it's all just out of disliking the music. People will just think of two bands they don't like and lump them together. That's unfair.

In the end: Dir en grey is Dir en grey. Can't they just be music? They're not any kind of extreme metal, so there is NO need to classify them. Maybe Decapitated needs to be called death metal, maybe Mayhem needs to be called black metal, but Diru is not, by any means some kind of "I make only one kind of music. Classify me!" band. I've learned, in this kind of music, as in Japanese music, there is no need for classification. Sure, there are still many cliches and pidgeonholes, but they aren't mandatory like in the land of metal and whatnot. Plus, you STILL haven't made any valuable points against the song or even why you don't like it, other than metal elitism. Why not broaden your horizons a bit instead of looking down on what isn't tr00 bullet belts and corpse paint music. I can enjoy both, so I don't think it'd be that hard for you to. :|

^ { } Nice one Elec.

I voted 'I like it' :) I mean at first I was a bit unsure with it but it really grew on me. I'd state other reasons but then again I'd just be repeating myself from the Diru thread. That is all.

I like this song. For me, the first Diru album I listened to was Kisou, next was Vulgar then WtD, so I'm more accustumed to thier heavier stuff. Gauze era Diru is a very strange area for me :|

And cracking open their bones ::zetsubou::

don't mind me, I'm going now

And ten years later they decide they should rape everyone around you. ::hora::
And that same year people made comments that totally threw the subject off. :-*

@†Synistre†: I feel the same way. I started on six Ugly (Strangely enough, since I'm a rather new fan.) and worked my way from there, then backtracked. I've tried many a time to get into pre-Kisou stuff besides a song here and another there, but alot of it feels like it could have been done by any VK band of that day. Maybe that's why people like it. How it was missing something that could only be defined as Dir en grey might have been what done it, because when a band is finally done cutting their teeth and become more unique, people always go ape about it. And, even on the other hand, when bands start sounding like other, more successful bands (ahem!), they gain more popularity. That's why I always say ASoM does not sound the slightest bit like any other band. It's just that.. disliking of the song that causes people to just slap some word or label on it, or say it sounds like another band, when in actuality.. In their 'golden beginnings of joy', they weren't unique then, and people liked them that way.

I really wonder though.. how it would be if Dir en grey came out in say.. 2003, and started with VULGAR. Something tells me alot of the same people who get all huffy about them now wouldn't mind.

I thought it was quite good when I first listened to it, it gets boring rather quick though.

Today I got to hear the song at last. I'm not sure what to say about it. I didn't mind screaming in Dir en Grey's songs before, because there was always some melody too. But I can't remember such a thing in this song. But the song is not worse than the PV >_> I swear I will see nighmares. I can watch blood and gore but that was disturibing (I think it was the uncensored version).
I don't hate the song, but I think I'm not going to listen to it too much either.

I'm almost like one of the crowd that listens to only Dir en grey's Visual Kei material- Gauze and MACABRE. I think that was their best. But admitedly I like their other albums. Withering to death. was alright.. but kinda sucked at the same time. It had some tracks I liked and not so much.

So far Ryojoku no Ame is the best song they've come up with in the past year. Agitated Screams of Maggots seems like "Hey! Let's be shocking!" but not as desperate as CLEVER SLEAZOID. Still I don't enjoy it, mostly because I hate nu-metal and in my opinion this still sounds like bashing on instruments in an attempt to be scary-mainstream rather than making real music.

So yeah. I voted on "omg, where did their talent go?"

Where'd it go? Into making music that ISN'T the same as their old stuff. BUT OH NO YOU CANT DO THAT

Real music?! That is the most irritating thing I've read today. Just because it's something you don't like makes it not real music and now suddenly they're a bad attempt at 'scary-mainsteam'. Gauze is their poppiest album-- that's mainstream too. They weren't some sort of cult band during that time either. It's like they're allowed to copy the Japanese mainstream, but when they have even the slightest 'western' influence, suddenly they're trying to be something. Look, if you're THAT far back in your Diru liking-- do yourself a favor and stop listening to them. Is it that hard? You coulda left it at 'where'd their talent go' even. But instead, again, with the annoying pages of GRAAHHH BAD.

This isn't nu-metal. I've already said this a million times. You don't like it. That's it. It's not mallcore, it's not emo, it's not screamo, it's Dir en grey. Period. Ryojoku no Ame was praised, probably only because of the lack of screaming. That's the whole thing. Shouldn't you have given up by Saku? It said IN THE BOOKLET that Kyo is gonna keep screaming. That shoulda meant something. What's it gonna take for anyone to realize they're not gonna slap on some makeup and wish they were Luna Sea and Kuroyume again? Alot apparently, because they release THIS, and still people are picking and picking and it just won't end. I know this has been going on since before I even got into VK, and really, that's frustrating that for four years or so, Dir en grey has just been like this OMGHORRIBLE band that everyone dislikes all of the sudden, and for all of these four years, people say the same old crap, and it's somehow justified.

That's why I wonder why people don't do things the Gackt way and just ignore them after a short goodbye. I mean, seriously, at least I can do that with bands I don't like anymore.

Chillax, Miz. :) dark dust actually has the most respectable and inocuous "not a fan of deg" statement I've seen in awhile. Some people like visual visuals and that's cool.

And I think they keep listening to it for the same reason I keep listening to Moi dix Mois. :-*
