This thread is not a discussion for the difference between angura-kei, and visual-kei.

!_!

for all who are unclear as to what it means:

http://wiki.theppn.org/Category:Angura-Kei

My personal favourites are Inugami Circus Dan, Guniw Tools, Metronome, Cali=Gari, and sometimes I'll listen to other stuff. I don't really have too much as angura-kei is a somewhat obscured genre.

Bah.

But let's not argue, k?

My favourite band could be angura-kei and I'd never know it. It's one of those genres I just don't get.

Uh..I like Metronome. And Kagerou...but I think Kagerou is classified under "eroguro kei" so I have no idea. Too confusing...it's all just music to me. -__-;

Wait, wait...but by that definition from Wikipedia, Metronome doesn't seem like it would fit under angura-kei. Err....

i don't like angura-kei bands, except for mucc, but they claim to be not visual anymore...so...

Cali=Gari is eroguro, btw.

I always thought angura-kei was strcitly traditional Japanese garb, but apparently it incuded suits and touches of Eroguro as well. Who knew.

Anyway, I don't really have a favorite. the only angura kei bands I listen to are Inugami circus dan and Onmyoza, who I love equally. Same goes with Merry, if we're including eroguro in the angura definition.

Metal, to be general about it. Their official site explains their musical visions pretty well.

I've heard them described as spectral rock. Very guitar driven, with two vocalists (male and female).

Yeah, pretty much. What makes them "spiritual" though isn't so much their music. It's more of their imagery and lyrics.

Man, there are too many. I love Angura-kei...
The most beautiful page ever, ever done was STOP! the gogatsubyou by the same girl who did Monophobia, the awesome Plastic Tree fanpage... Both now defunct sadly.

For a extremely interesting read I recommend you all go to:
http://nejimaki.net/
then go to Misc → stop! faq → READ!
It has these interestiiing points everyone should read about:
*What is angura-kei? (duh...)
*When did angura-kei start? *__* My favourite question!
*Is angura-kei well known?
*How is it different to Visual-kei?
*What's the Yaneura Dai-Circus?
*Where can I buy angura-kei releases?
*What's a "minicomi-shi"? they talk about サアカス and Apres Guerre! ^_^
*What on earth is "Stop! The Gogatsubyou" supposed to mean?

I highly recommend this page to anyone and everyone curious and not-so-curious about the genre. It's definitely worth it...
</very SHAMELESS plug>

I like Guguguru Eigakan, Inugami Circus-dan, Here's the Hamsters(what I've been able to hear from them), Onmyouza is extremely awesome too.... Gosh, there are too many.
And I didn't think Guniw Tools fell in that genre but...
:P Guniw Tools, Cali≠Gari, Mucc, Metronome, etccc... ;)

--k

PS: I like many stuff about Angura; not just the bands. :3

I would probably say Onmyouza, although I haven't heard much by them. But what I have heard was pretty good.

Onmyouza are great. I love Kuroneko's voice. They make me wish I liked metal a bit more...

I have no idea why people think Onmyouza are angura-kei, visual kei or any other type of kei when they specifically make a point of introducing themselves as nothing more than "youkai heavy metal"

Is it because they wear Heian era costumes on stage? because apart from that there is nothing visual/angura about them apart from the fact that they have played concerts with other angura musicians. Is it genre id by association? I am confused.

I am not a big fan of genre classification but I DO know that Cali:gari and Inugami Circus Dan ARE angura-kei. And Inugami Circus Dan are wonderful *loves*

I should've just said indie-styled visual kei bands, but then people would've thrown in stuff from under code. or said "tetsu era malice mizer" or something.
