I have different views on certain points.
For me, the little girl is dead from the beggining of the song...
The landscape seems to be after-war like, and I guess you could say that she's been a victim of it. Now, being dead, she's wandering amongst the ruins...In Christian tradition, it is said that when someone dies, his/her soul stays around on earth for 40 days, visiting places he/she has lived in, and that it is important for the people who have known this person to pray for him/her to help his/her soul to leave the earth and go back in Heaven.
For me the "happy girl", it's just her memories back when she was alive and happy, representing what binds her to earth and what is difficult for her to leave behind, so that her soul may be free and spread its wings to fly back to the Sky.
I see Gackt as her guardian angel, sent on earth to help her to achieve this task....
The crushing of the rose at the end may represent the killing of innocence, the atrocity of war when it comes to cause the death of children, who represent purity. So Gackt is sad, and angry towards human beings for doing such a thing....
Of course that is just my vision of the story...

I don't know, there are many ways to see it....It could be an imploration to God, like why He has left this little girl dying...
Or a prayer to God, so that He takes her soul to Heaven quickly...
Or simply a look to the sky, like it's the only place one can be happy...
Or maybe it's both....Hmmm, a real difficult question indeed :?
Best thing would be to ask Gakuto for sure!

well he refers to alot of other religions too ... most recently.. i would say is hinduism....

+ Hi! new here too XD....however, that doesn't matter, I have to say that I agree with MiniKitty's and Velvet gentleman's analysis... and um! I prefer the album version, I dunno, when I saw the PV It's beautiful but I don't like to much that version is too soft for me XD... about the live performance, that makes me feel so melancholic cause Gackt performs it very well and seems that he's feeling the pain, but really I've never cried with a M+M song..... neither when I listened to Unmei no deai ._. , so well Le ciel has a special place for me ^^ and yeah! Kami drumming is too much <3.......

I'm a newbie too and I love that song. Specially when Gackt performed it in his awesome dark angel costume in the Merveilles concert... It has something on it, something special, like a personal touch. I think that song meant the end of Gackt in Malice Mizer, because it was made evident that there couldn't be two absolute geniuses in the same band (I mean Mana and Gackt). Le ciel is so beautiful and heart-breaking.

(1) Gackt didn't use the normal kanji for warau (laugh), instead choosing rare kanji that implies insult, such as someone laughing at you.
(2) Another previously used kanji trick, this time from Cube. Believe it or not, but these two choruses are not the same. In the first one, Gackt uses a somewhat uncommon kanji for karada (body) which refers to a normal human body. In the second verse, Gackt uses a kanji for karada that is more normally used for mukuro, or corpses. From this, I can assume that Gackt meant for the meanings of the verses to be actually very different. The second verse refers to a pile of corpses that he is dancing upon, while the first verse perhaps refers to a different kind of dancing on a different kind of pile. If you get my drift. But maybe it's just me.

In mind opinion, it almost seemed like a prayer ritual to Kali on the performance of Lu:na that I first saw. (I think it was on HeyHeyHey)

Le Ciel~ (Draft analysis)

Starts off with little homeless/poor/less fortunate girl wandering through a (?)junk yard.

Gackt appears, but he is some sort of heavenly being/angel.
(long nails=talons, feathers on his cape/shoulders.. white tipped hair (more feathers?) Androgenous look.)

everything is in black and white.
Minus the fact of the little stream of this.. "rainbow mist"(aura?) that seems to come from Gackt. When he's singing, it centers around his throat, then it's carried away by the wind, and also circulates around him.

The little girl falls... (the future? gackt can see it.)

Gackt is seen standing in an open green field holding the (dead?) girl in his arms.

Girl appears again walking in junk yard.

She is in color because she is still part of this world,she likes the physical world, and is happy in it.

2nd girl Looks down at her hands.

They are bleeding.

She doesn't understand. How can she have so much (be so foturnate), yet, still feel empty (hurt maybe..) inside?

Camera rotates around poor girl. this is the world she lives in.
She watches the more fortunate girls playing and having fun.
"Is that life really better? Do I want that?" ((darn it.. *name cut* said something significantly better and different, but I can't remember exactly what it was.))

the girl stares longingly.

"I want to go there." he reaches and reaches for it.

The rich girl doesn't understand. How can this child, with nothing, be smiling like that? She looks so.. truely happy.

The rich girl keeps watching the poor one, she doesn't see Gackt. (Gackt is only visable to the poor little girl)

((What did *name cut* say?" Since the poor have nothing, all they have is their dreams and hopes, so they get the angels??"))

Gackt takes the less fortunate girl's hand.

"I'll show you the way into the sky. Come with me."

they walk off together.

well if you study all the different religions/mythology/ stories.. along with their symbols/symbolic meanings.. things kinda.. just jump out at you... (plus my older sister has done the same (studying) and is super smart at these things, she tends to help me figure these things out too. ^^; )

it's like "wait a sec... this sounds like.. so and so from .. some place... or that story about a something.. OMG I know what that thing means!" XD;
