You had to preorder it from Kiwamu's website, I think all of the preorders were signed =) Kiwamu posted a picture of it and Dada shared it on Facebook, but I didn't see the message until after I noticed the signatures in the booklet...

I would try to auction off the packing slip on eBay to hardcore Kiwamu fans, but it has my address and it amuses me that Kiwamu said the CD came from "Taiwan" and has the value of $10 USD ::meev::

And Faith, you can tell Michan I didn't really care for it all that much either ^^; It was amusing when Dada covered an Iron Maiden song, that was kind of unexpected as well.. I think he should cover Night Flight by Perfume ::gaku::

He also recently posted a picture of himself without any makeup whatsoever Just remember, this is the guy who loiters around 7 Eleven in a thong ::shifty::

Well, Dada deleted me from fb, I don't really know why but I think it was because I defended 3rd era... ::weepy:: , so I can't see his updates anymore unless I check his page.
I was planning on saving this record unopened (can't stop that...), but since you said yours was signed, and I checked Dada's fb and saw the picture of the signed booklet with Kiwamu's update, I decided to open my copy and it was also signed ::squee::

and I was wondering if Kiwamu signed the labels himself! The swedish post however put a label on top of it so I could only see a K...

He did what??? God that man is so much drama it's rediculous.

He definitely needs to stop deleting people from Facebook.
I've disagreed with him on a few things before. I'm just waiting until he deletes me too lol

The only reason I follow him is to get info about CDs and stuff, but 90% of his posts are about cars and car models... He maxed out his friend list at 5,000 "friends" because I guess FB has a limit. What he needs to do is just maintain his fanpage, or get a MySpace, or maintain an actual official website...

I don't even read people's comments anymore to Dada's posts because they all feel like they were written by Lydia Deetz... "My whole life is a dark room... One big dark room... " ::zetsubou::

Just out of curiosity, what do you think about celebrities (I use this term generously) and social media these days? It seems like back in the day when all we had were magazines and interviews, celebrities had a certain public image that was heavily protected, but once they had uncensored, unfiltered access to social media like Facebook and Twitter, a great number turned into whiney drama queens... I liked Dada a LOT more when he wasn't posting on FB about the imminent end of Velvet Eden every week and I've thought about unfriending him several times...

(And I actually did like a lot of BLOOD's music back in the day, but a big part of getting turned off BLOOD was the attitude of Kiwamu...)

I totally second this. Facebook and Twitter have turned them into very ordinary people, and our appreciation of their work has suffered because of it.

I don't have any proof it had anything to do with it, but I shared a photo on fb from 3rd era and he commented saying that wasn't VE and stuff like that, and I said I liked that era and also that I really like Fushigi no kuni no arisu which he wrote himself. and after that I realised his updates stoped turning up so I checked his account and noticed we weren't "friends" anymore. so I guess that pissed him off somehow.
Maybe I'm overreacting but it did kind of hurt me since I support velvet eden in every way that I can, and I didn't say anything insulting (IMO).

The new PV is great! No dancers, Chro on keyboards, great song. I can't like him anymore, but I must admit this is very good.

I think that's proof. And no, you didn't do anything wrong...sometimes he randomly deletes or attacks people who are really fans of the band for special Dada reasons.

Well, this is a little personal for me because I still have a lot of nostalgia for my days hunting around Japan for Velvet Eden information. It was certainly a lot more FUN back then. And there was more that you could fill in about them, so you could kind of tailor them to be whomever you wanted them to be.

All in all I think it depends on how the person manages the social media though. If they're whining and fighting and saying very personal stuff on their blogs then it's obviously highly detrimental. But if they know how to use it responsibly then it doesn't have to be a bad thing. The thing is that most of them are not good at marketing, or not intelligent, or simply not good people. In average, very few people who become celebrities deserve to be celebrities. I think most of us already knew that, and we're just being forced to accept it now. In my opinion, with my hatred of celebrity culture, this is not a bad thing. Ideally it would cause people to focus more on the art than the person, but they all seem to get caught up in the drama instead :P

But overall, I think celebrities need to keep a certain distance from their fans to avoid both parties getting hurt. If they want to be celebrities, then they need to learn to use social media effectively and maturely. They have to do the editing jobs the magazines used to do for them. If they can do this, then social media is a good thing. I worry about musicians that I really like - that they might overstep the boundaries.

And randomly it gives more access to cat pictures. This is highly awesome.

Has anyone listened to Double Twelve yet? I found it alright, a few gems, a few terrible songs. It's nothing amazing or mind blowing overall, but simply the nostalgic factor and the genre itself makes it quite an enjoyable listen. I really enjoy: Make up Shadow, One Caress, Platonic Blood, and Shoujou A. I bought the digital version so I don't know who wrote what and all that. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts on the album.

I didn't buy it, but maybe I will. Even if you bought the actual CD I'm not sure you'd learn who wrote what. ::meev::

I'd agree with you - I quite enjoyed One Caress, Paraph, La Fin, Girls End, Make Up Shadow & Confession Of Mask but a lot of it just sounded a little... ehh ::meev:: I don't like a lot of the 'classical' stuff that Dada composed, it just didn't feel like VE. Overall I was disappointed since Dada has a great voice, but I think they need to sort the lineup out. Chro seems competent enough (and 100x better then Aci, who had zero skills with the electric violin) but I always imagine the band as Dada/Kalm.

I guess my favorite tracks were Unhappy Birthday, Make up Shadow, Velvet Eden, 少女A, Girl's End, Freakshow, Marionette Waltz and Witch on Flames. I liked the different styles and I'm glad Dada included all the songs. The only track I actively disliked was Street of Alice 2.0. 花売り娘 grew on me, but I prefer the original version. I was surprised that I liked Witch on Flames. While I prefer the original version, I felt GPK actually did a pretty good job. I don't normally care for his music, so that was kind of weird. I guess we could have also gotten Furies and Flower on the Battlefield (Didn't they have another one called Sea of Blood?) o_O

Coming soon, a new release from Velvet Eden: Film Noir (DVD)

The preview is available here and it looks like it's 4 music videos including the following:
One Caress
Paraph
少女A
VELVET EDEN

Limited to 300 copies

I really liked 少女A and VELVET EDEN, so I'll be picking this up

(EDITED: The official track list has been announced, it's those 4 videos. I would have also liked to see Confession of Mask on there, but oh well ^^; )

Was Confession of Mask an Aci song? When you watch the original PV, the song is a lot different and not nearly as heavy, but it's still pretty good :) I actually like Aci a lot more than I did at first. I just got the Witch on Flames CD and I'm really enjoying it. I translated Pandora and Tragic Puppet Show:

Dada wrote:
Pandora

There is a small box over there
This box will make you sad
If you're not curious, you don't have to open it
You can just throw it away
But the box is waiting until you are able to open it
It's not a box that just anyone can open
There are people waiting inside the box
They are always looking out for you
And have been imprisoned in the box instead of you
If you open the box, at that moment you must answer to each of them for your sins
But you don't have to worry about that
At the edge of the world inside the box,
There is someone waiting for you

There is a small box over there
It's waiting until you can open it

Dada wrote:
Tragic Puppet Show

Every night you stroke my hair
As we sleep together
In the attic.

You gave me a beautiful dress
And I shall sing you a lullaby,
No one can sing it as beautifully as I can.

Please God, hear my prayer,
A vow from my glass eyes,
These secret dreams I hide deep within myself.

A single crow sitting on the windowsill
Pecks at my dress and laughs,
“You should look at yourself in the mirror.”

“You’re not a real person, you’re just shaped like one.”

I’m nothing but a pathetic, jointed doll
And if you’re not here,
I can’t go anywhere; I’m just a marionette
Who dreams of being held by you…

Wings, black as coal cover my eyes.

I’m nothing but a pathetic, jointed doll
And if you’re not here,
I’m just a wretched marionette, shaped like a person,
Who dreams of being held by you…

Tragic Puppet Show reminds me a LOT of 「................」 lyrically. It's easily my favorite track from the CD d(^____^)

Velvet Eden released the demo for their new track Luzifer on YouTube and... I dunno, I really didn't get into this one at all ^^: The lyrics aren't all that interesting and the music is pretty forgettable... Oh well ^^;

I've been listening to Sea of Blood lately and I really like that song a lot =D I don't know why they took it offline, it's a very good song!

Pretty forgettable indeed. He's not good at writing music.

I don't think the translated lyrics on the YouTube page are very accurate, so here's what I got out of them:

Dada wrote:
Hawk moths dance and burn to death
Around an old light bulb that illuminates this room

Your hand stops rubbing my back
Your white palms have been dyed red in blood

Birds cry in the morning before daybreak
My flesh is torn as it sprouts budding thorns
I’ll wake up someday if this is a nightmare
But it’s not a dream

I suppose your wings are more beautiful than mine
Your back turns pale and transparent
And charred fragments of burnt moths celebrate
Your name is Luzifer

Almost the same, but I think there are some noteworthy differences to give a better context. It sounds like the person in the song is being transformed into a demon and their wings are ripping out of their back.

In case anyone is wondering, this is a hawk moth. You might remember it from the cover of the film "Silence of the Lambs". (An interesting note, if you look closely at the skull on the moth, you'll notice it is "In Voluptas Mors" by Salvador Dali, a photograph of 7 women posing and using their white bodies and shadows to make themselves look like a skull. That's actually a pretty cool connection.)

^ Wow! That's a really cool cover! I like the atmosphere of it a lot! It's quite different from the original, but I think it works very well! What software did you use to program it? :D

For the 2 people still following, Velvet Eden is releasing a live DVD: "Behind the Tales"

01. Street of Alice
02. Freakshow
03. La fin
04. Luzifer
05. Masquerade Alone
06. Confession of Mask
07. Marionette Waltz (clip)

Preview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDKpvmPJwZw

I'll probably end up getting it, as it looks like the Velvet Eden Specialty Dance Squad has disbanded ::gaku:: I'm not particularly interested in Luzifer or Masquerade Alone, but sometimes things are better live than they are in the studio recording, so I'll give it a shot :) And I think the Marionette Waltz is a music video, so that will be cool :)

I don't know if anyone can top Malice Mizer's 目醒めの螺旋 from the Merveilles concert for weirdest live moment, though... I was just rewatching that a couple weeks ago with a friend, neither of us having seen it in years, and we were just baffled by what on earth was going on. We spend the whole track just saying, "What exactly am I watching here?" (Much like the giant alligator from All Dogs Go to Heaven, it seems to have been seen by the world and was then never spoken of again.)

Maybe I'll buy it, but only because Dada is best live, and the current set is ok.

Not being a big fan of Malice Mizer's, I don't remember watching that live moment before. Seems to me the key to this is the "Dies Irae" at the end. Hinting at a divine punishment for breaking all the rules?
